I think it’s inappropriate to say this but the Old Airport Road is a divine place for food. The more I go to this place, the more I become a big fan of it. There’s plenty of good food to try at an affordable price.
Comparing it to the food court inside a shopping mall, the food at Old Airport Road is 10 times more satisfying even though it’s more affordable. A good comparison is that a meal with a drink at a shopping mall food court would cost me around S$10 to S$15 for the cheaper ones. At the same time, the pricing at the Old Airport Road food center would only range from S$6-S$8. It’s affordable yet the quality is so much better.
For my dinner, I ordered Shin Nian’s best seller the Pig Leg Rice!
Just by looking at the plating of the food, I'm already salivating! This is the kind of food that will literally top off the food at a shopping mall and can even compare to the food at a restaurant.
I know a good drink that will complement the dish, it has to be my favorite Whampoa Soya milk drink with Boba pearls!
I like sipping cold soya milk in this warm weather and I also like the playful texture of the boba pearls. It's sweet and interesting to chew as well.
The Pig Leg Rice has 4 major components:
- The slices of pork & skin that were slowly braised until it became tender.
- The fishcake that tastes like a meatloaf.
- The salted vegetable that has a tangy taste that compliments the dish.
- And the rice that was drizzled with the savory soy-based sauce.
I was also served with a nice chili sauce. I thought it was going to be spicy but it wasn't. It has the right amount of kick while it also has a sharp tanginess that is a perfect touch into this dish.
Although this is just my first time ordering from this hawker stall, I already know in my heart that this stall is in my Top 10!
