WIRED TO BE CONSISTENT

Consistency is the true foundation of trust. Either keep your promises or do not make them.” ― Roy T. Bennett.

What a beauty it will be to keep doing the right thing, day in and day out.
Especially those things we have discovered perfectly work for us. By us, I mean me.

We all have our different desires, outlooks, make, perceptions, likes and dislikes... The list goes on. I will focus on the things that interest me and how I was able to seek out what suits me and works for me to inadvertently stick to them. My little victories says a whole lot.

In learning a new language I have to keep doing the tiny one percent every day like my friend @takhar beautifully puts in writing start small climb high as long as I remember the things learned and in the long run become a fluent French speaker. I have fallen off the wagon far too many times but have seen the reminder from Duolingo as a great blessing.

I remember quite vividly the efforts my mum put into being very good at public speaking in the English language. She would sit in front of the television with her pen and paper in hand writing down words she heard for the first time and mimicking some sentences to get a hang of it. In the end, it paid off as she speaks so fluently at gatherings especially to guide and instruct persuasively her kids in the school she teaches. Wherever there is a function to address a large group, she is always called upon.

Consistency allows for perfection as you perform the same positive function and sometimes the same way especially after deciphering what works for you and then sticking to it.

I want to be healthy and feel energetic so I tried out indoor workouts and it worked for a while till I started getting bored and unmotivated so I went for a 30-minute run and felt the pump to do more.
I tried out several other workouts till I adopted the beautiful routine of a jog on the street at the start of the week that settles in with aerobics when I returned home to target areas of my body that need stretching then rounding off with a restive stretch.

I dance on other days to music combinations I like, to feel awesome. My dance steps are not to be seen by mortals I promise. They could laugh their lungs out, the perk is, I enjoy them.
So let the great dancers win competitions while I keep fit.
I felt my best self in those moments feeling younger and more vibrant.

The moment I start procrastinating and not imbibe the things that work for me, it's downhill from there.
I desired to grow my business, but I discovered waking up in the early hours of the morning to pray, strategize, plan and see my plans through works out fine after several methods were tried out. I stuck to it and amazed myself.

    HUMAN NATURE INDULGENCE

Human nature can be one of weakness, seeking out excuses and holding onto the pleasure of relaxation and momentary satisfaction that could cost one a lifetime of fulfillment and vibrancy.
I still give in to these once in a while because I know what overtly working can do to me.

    FIGHT

By fight, I don't mean to tear your clothes apart and face the menace head-on with a roar and frightening face. Maybe more subconsciously. This is more with fighting your inner demons.

Self-respect: I will do things promised to myself because I love and respect myself- seeking the best for myself.
Persistence or stubbornness as I call it, is necessary: I need to say a lot of ‘NOs!’ to things that beg for my time to be complacent. From extra sleep in the morning to a covered duvet on the couch for movies in the daytime and the list goes on.

Place yourself in places that remind you about these values to keep to them. There is a lot of information lying all around us. If we don't select the information that is important to us derailing will be easy.

It is no wonder everything gets repeated to us over and again- in the church, schools, hospitals and the list goes on because our minds are bound to forget and lose a grip on things counted as important.

Achieving our dreams might not seem like a bed of roses but can be a little less quirky if we are consistent.
