A Sad Fortune

So this is me literally sharing a personal experience of all the detailed works I have been into till date.

I started working at age 17, home lessons for children. This was during the covid period. I organized a lesson for primary and nursery pupils for just 2,000 naira English and mathematics.

For some reason, I couldn't continue. Okay since i said i will be detailed, I'll try as much as possible to fit in my story properly so you wouldn't get bored.

Luckily, I successfully gathered over 20 pupils and even got higher pay from parents who wanted extra subjects aside from the general Math and English Language.

The unfortunate incident happened when I fell ill and was taken to the hospital after collapsing 3 times and there needed to undergo a not so minor operation.

Shortly after I came back from the hospital, I found out the majority of my pupils attended another lesson organized by a young girl as myself. I felt wrong and thought the other girl stole my work and pupils since I was the only one doing such work in my environment. Phew! I later realized, life is more than that.

Well, we're not going there today, back to the story…

Soon I closed the session for the year since the festive period was around the corner. The coming year, I told myself never to be a teacher actually..never to work again due to a misunderstanding that occurred between my parents and I.

In the end, I became a teacher again but for just 3 months. Then, I worked as a secretary in an interior company for another 3 months..I resigned after my boss tried hooking me up with some of her clients who were in some way interested in me. When she couldn't buy me it, she then accused me of stealing from her.

Before I resigned, I picked interest in selling oil perfumes. Oh my! I was so good in physical marketing and yes, am still good in it..lol

I sustained myself in it after my resignation and was later employed at a local government secretariat. Even as a private employee to the local government chairman’s assistant (yes! the chairman’s assistant has an assistant you get now right? Lol)

I familiarized myself with the civil workers around and was able to get them to buy oil perfumes from me. Through my side hustle I was able to pay for my admission into school at that time.

The experience that follows after is another story entirely. But unfortunately, i lost my side hustle of selling oil perfumes because of my negligence 😞

It happened at a period where my mom said she was in urgent need of money. Her reasons were quite valid but thinking about it now, I am just realizing that the “urgency” as she claimed is what she could do without and now it as become a sad fortune for me💔

So yeah, she begged and I couldn't resist. I gave the capital of my oil perfume business to my mom.
I couldn't say no to my family. You could blame me too but I think you should first have had a similar experience of pressure from family.

My mom promised to pay back. Well, what can i say, am still waiting for the payment till date..lol
I couldn't go on with my oil perfume business, raising funds wasn't actually the problem but I just suddenly lost interest.

For a long time I haven't had any side hustle, not until I came across “Hive”. I need to take a deep breath first….😌

In all honesty, if not that I already acquired a passionate skill (Baking) I would have abandoned it and fully depend on hive. I was scared at first when I just heard about hive, I developed a phobia for side hustles..but now I am left with no regrets.

So right about now, I could boldly say that I am fully content with what I got in my hands, which I believe it's capable enough of birthing other income sources for me.
