The trend kind of continues in that I systematically manage to crush the closing odds while the bets fail to really deliver. I still managed to make a small profit on the match yesterday as I covered the Westerlo bet with a bet on the corners which delivered in a 1-way match which mainly resulted in corners and not so much in open chances or goals for the home team. 3 matches today including multiple teams who are in danger of getting in the playdowns.
Kv Mechelen vs OH Leuven
The 2 trends for Mechelen right now is that they play wide-open in their home matches which went 3W-1L on the over and 2W-2L on the handicap while away they play more defensive resulting in 0W-5L on the over and 2.5W-1L on the handicap. This while they had multiple matches especially against top teams (Genk & AA Gent) where they played well but still somehow lost. OHL has been one of the revelations this season but at the same time haven't really been crushing their handicaps so lines have fully adjusted to them. They have been an Under team as often they play without a real striker and they are the team with the lowest xg against at just 0.75 on average a match. All of their matches went to at least 9+ corners and they create a surprisingly high amount for a team that isn't really full forward. Purely on the names and the standings where both have 11 points so far, one would make an argument for Mechelen on the +0 line at close to even money. I do think Mechelen has been overperforming in the quality they have brought while often this still resulted in a loss and they are more vulnerable at home so I get where the current line is coming from. Aside from this there are just too many conflicting trends to make a proper prediction of how this will play out. So
No Pre-Game Bets
Kv Kortrijk vs Genk
I had some good hopes for Kortrijk at the start of the season as they raised their capital and looked stronger compared to the year before when they were one of the main relegation teams. However, they simply haven't been good enough overall and still are one of the main candidates to end in the bottom 4. Last week they really played a horrible match away against Union and they have a scoring issue which is a vital flaw for teams like this. Their xg in the last 3 games is only 0.47 which is even lower than Standard. This while they are 2nd in xg against at 2.05 in the last 3 matches. Today they will on top be without their best player Kadri while De Neve is injured. Genk is on top of the Standing and along with Club Brugge they are the squad with most quality while they don't have the load of European matches. Last week at home they put up a poor performance against Mechelen but somehow still managed to win it. The combination of Genk winning matches even when they don't play their best and Kortrijk really disappointing and being weak so far plus Kadri being out, made me go with an early 0.197 unit bet on
Genk -0.75 @ 1.818 even though I generally try to avoid 1.6 type away favorites. I also took 0.22 units on
Genk 1H -0.5 Corners @ 1.790 and 0.2 units on
Genk 1H -0.5 @ 2.095. So 0.6 units in total pre-game with an eye to take possibly more in-game and I'm taking the last one up at the main recommendation as it's widely available now.
FC Dender vs Charleroi
Dender last week took a good point against Anderlecht and they showed that they an ok home team bringing good enthusiasm. It also was a fun match to watch and this also shows in their home xg stats which are systematically well above 1 both when it comes down to creating and getting against. Despite the great start this season they are now 3 matches without a win and slowly but surely on their way down again. Charleroi right now is inside of the top 6 with generally ok overall performances but at the same time in the last couple matches looked a bit tired near the end. I don't think this match will be as closed down as the odds suggest and I took 0.2 units on
Over 2.5 @ 2.070 along with 0.15 units on
1H Over 1 @ 1.950 and 0.05 units on
over 3 @ 2.886 all with an eye to either take more or reduce exposure in-game.
