Splinterlands Social Media Challenge - Legendaries in Rise of the Commons

Hello everyone! This is my second entry for this week's Splinterlands Social Media Challenge. Today I'm sharing a battle of mine in Modern Diamond Ranked.

I fought an interesting battle in Modern Diamond ranked. This was a game in the Rise of the Commons rule set. Only common and rare units are allowed but legendary summoners can still be used. That's what we both did! It's often a great strategy for this rule set because most legendary summoners have a lot of abilities, which can have a bigger impact in common and rare units since they usually have fewer abilities than the higher rarity ones.

This game has the following rule sets: Rise of the Commons, Melee Mayhem, and Stampede. I opted for Eternal Tofu and started the team with the Weapons Training combination of Chaos Agent, Moxian Rebel, and Grimbardun Smith. I followed it up with Vulguine and Venari Crystalsmith. I finished the team with Gargoya Scrapper to protect my Crystalsmith from Sneak attackers. They went with Lorkus, putting Wily Coyotian in front. They also used a Weapons Training combination of Grimbardun Smith, Moxian Rebel, and Chaos Animator. They finished with Gobalano Soldier.

I gave Triage and Scavenger to Grimbardun Smith. They gave Life Leech and Affliction to their 2 trained units. Gobalano killed my Scrapper after the Ambush and the regular hit but fell to 1 HP from Thorns. They took out my Agent but I also eliminated Wily. In round 2, my Moxian died right away and Gobalano died to Thorns. After this, the game became much slower. We both had our Grimbardun Smiths in front and they were taking more damage than they were Leeching/Healing. However, mine was sustaining a bit better than theirs. By round 8, I had taken theirs down. In the following round, Moxian fell too and all they had left was a Chaos Animator with almost 20 HP. Still, that was going to decrease every round and my Grimbardun would be recovering more HP than it would lose. I finished it in round 13.

Overall, their Lorkus strategy was a bit better than mine because their Grimbardun was better than mine. The difference was that I had a unit with Tank Heal, which Fire and Death currently lack. Gobalano Soldier would have been perfect to take out my Crystalsmith but putting Gargoya Scrapper in the back was the difference between winning and losing.
