State of the DBuzz dapps

in voilk •  3 days ago

This post lists down most, if not all, of the DBuzz dapps for Hive as of January 7, 2025 (UTC), whether they are working or not.

A platform qualifies as a "dapp" if it is intended for end-users (the "app" on the "dapp" name) and can be hosted by anyone with sufficient technical knowledge (the "d" on the "dapp"). Many Hive users already familiar with the #DBuzz microblogging platform (https://d.buzz/) and Hive community may not yet realize that there are several dapps under the DBuzz "umbrella".

    Fully working dapps

These are the DBuzz dapps that are generally fully functional with little issues.

    1. https://d.buzz/ - The DBuzz microblogging platform which was the original plan of @chrisrice.
    2. https://blog.d.buzz/ - The "long-form" version of the DBuzz microblogging platform.
    3. https://chat.d.buzz/ - A decentralized, end-to-end encrypted chat platform using the security and convenience inherent on Hive accounts. A fork of #PeakD Chat (https://chat.peakd.com/).
    4. https://join.d.buzz/ - A platform which allows the creation of free Hive accounts using the @dbuzz Hive accounts' Account Creation Tokens claimed from Resource Credits. A fork of #Hiveonboard (https://hiveonboard.com/).

    Partially working dapps

These are the DBuzz dapps which have accessible frontends, but with major issues in the backend which prevent them from working properly (or at all).

    1. https://vote.d.buzz/ - A webpage which helps Hive users quickly vote on the latest DBuzz proposal. Users trying to vote will see an error that voting on expired proposals is not allowed.
    2. https://dbuzz-explorer.netlify.app - A Hive block explorer. A fork of #Hiveblocks (https://hiveblocks.com/). Platform is clearly under development.
    3. https://pm.d.buzz/ - An end-to-end encrypted chat platform using Hive accounts, private active keys sending 0.001 HIVE or 0.001 HBD with memos encrypted by private memo keys. Not a fork of PeakD Chat. There is a problem with the website's TLS certificate which prevents the user's web browser from connecting securely to the site.
    4. https://next.d.buzz/ - The "beta" version of the DBuzz microblogging frontend where some updates from the "nightly" version are tested longer. There is also a problem with the website's TLS certificate.
    5. https://staging.d.buzz/ - The "nightly" version of the DBuzz microblogging frontend where new updates are tested first. The website shows a loading page that never finishes loading.
    6. https://lite.d.buzz/ - Another "nightly" version of the DBuzz microblogging frontend where the Metamask integration is being tested. The website is unable to load any data from the Hive blockchain.

    Non-working dapps

There are the DBuzz dapps whose both frontends and backends are not accessible.

    1. https://auto.vote/ - A platform where Hive accounts can be set to automatically vote posts of certain other Hive accounts and follow curation trails. A fork of #HiveVote (https://hive.vote/).
    2. https://dex.d.buzz/ or https://market.d.buzz/ - A decentralized market for the DLUX token, DLUX NFTs, and SPK. A fork of #Honeycomb (https://dlux.io/) by disregardfiat.
    3. https://myhive.li/ - A link shortener that is restricted to shortening links only for whitelisted Hive blogging frontends (such as #DBuzz itself, #PeakD, #Ecency, and #HiveBlog). A fork of #Yourls (https://yourls.org/).
