Hail to the Hive!
One of the things I am doing in India is visiting lots of dive shops and dive professionals. We had a 30 minute motorcycle tide to visit a guy who runs his own shop from his own property just outside Pondicherry and half way there decided tomake a pit stop for coffee and food.
It was a cafe entirely of my friend Pushpaks choosing and I was pleasantly surprised to find it was a Motorcycle 'Cafe Racer' style cafe.
Cafe 73
As I walked in I immediately saw 2 amazing machines. A motorcycle mounted on the wall and a coffee machine directly beneath it. Superb!
I'll be honest I wasn't expecting anything like this in India and I'm not sure why. They love their bikes so it really makes perfect sense.
As we made our way to our table I soaked in the vibe. Cool motorcycle artwork and all the decor in keeping with the theme of the place,
Both outside and inside spots looked inviting but we plumped for inside as we were hot from the ride and it was nice and cool indoors.
Perusing the menu I chuckled as I noticed the burgers were named after motorbikes and racing cars.
And I also noticed the Indian influence on the burgers on offer.
As we had arrived on a Royal Enfield I plumped for the Royal Enfield burgers which was a fried masala paneer option as opposed to meat. Why not, I fancied something different.
and it looked very good, tasted amazing. Fresh, zingy, an explosion of flavours.
Pushpak went carnivore and went for the Ford Mustang! Hope it wasn't horse!!! nah it wasn't.
And of course. to wash it down a nice full rich balck coffee with nothing in it to spoil it. Always love the taste of a black coffee all the more after food. Does anyone else ever notice that?
Pushpak had a capuccino that didn't disappoint and I smiled thinking that in a country famous for tea they had embraced the coffee shop culture just fine.
The walls were adorned with black and white images of the golden days of motor racing on 2 and 4 wheels.
I really liked the place and ordered another tasty black coffee to give me a charge for the rest of the afternoon.
Even the transformers like it here apparently.
So all in all, class vibes and artwork.
great selection of food.
Superb Indian hospitality.
and great coffee!
What more can you ask for?
