In this teaching, we touch on a topic concerning the evil going on in the world. This makes people wonder if all things, including evil, are the will of God. Believing that God is okay with the evil going on in the world is a wrong judgment.
If we start to observe all the manner of evil that is going on in our world today, for example, people that take their fellow man's life or those who cheat on their partners, you can't say that God is in support of this. In the content of God's commandments, we don't come across any command that supports us in evil doing.
God is actually against evil, but unlike dictators, He gave us free will. The ability to make our own choices without force or compulsion. As much as He wants us to walk in godliness, he wants us to do it willingly, from our hearts and not being forced to.
So He gave each and every one of us free will. But sadly, many people have abused it. People make use of their free will to do those same things God forbids. When a man commits evil, we should not think for a second that God is happy about it.
The evil we see today could be the will of the person committing it, or it could be the will of Satan dwelling in the person. Brother Eli reminds us of Mary Magdalene in the Bible and how she was possessed by seven evil spirits.
The behavior she displayed was due to the influence of the evil spirits in her; it wasn't sponsored by her will or God either. God will never enforce His will on us without our consent. He gives us the opportunity to decide for ourselves. We see this in the Book of Deuteronomy 30:19. It reads
This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live
God wants the best for us, just like a good father wants the best for his child. However, if we choose contrary to His goodwill for us, He leaves us to our decisions. But whatever the negative outcomes, we are to be blamed for it.
Many people blame God for the consequences of their own actions. Most problems we encounter were results of our disobedience to God's will and instructions to us.
