In this life we are in, we see many uncertainties. There are many road blocks that hinder our path to success. We cry, laugh and be sad at times but when we scale through all these things, we become happy and give thanks for the opportunity to be strong enough to scale through the challenges of life.
This post, which is obviously my first post here, will serve as an entry to the hive Ghanas weekly prompt. I will love to share a story of an event that happened which made me give thanks.
There are many things to be grateful for in life. One of these many things to be grateful for is the gift of life.
I have lived enough years on earth to understand that life is a priceless jewel that I need to be grateful for having.
Everyday, I wake up to the glory of the higher entity that created me and i live my life to the fullest without having any difficulties. It is not that I am more important when compared to other people, but the grace of God is always sufficient.
There are many people who are passing through the stage of dying as I write this post. Many people have gotten into an accident and got their body part inevitably amputated. There are many people who are wishing to be whole and be good again. Many people have diverse problems that are restricting their activity of daily living. Some are in the hospital buying oxygen at a very costly rate per hour but here I am, intaking free oxygen and living my life to be fullest.
As a medical student I am, I have seen many people be born,die and loose plenty valuable things. I am always sad at this sight because there is absolutely nothing that I can do to help but to watch how the person surfer in pains.
Oxygen is sold at a price of 3,000 naira per hour at a rate of 4L/hour but I have 24hours of free oxygen which i can intake as much as I want. Is that not enough reason to be thankful? I am always grateful to God for the gift of life.
I have lost a lot of people to death in life, close people who I really value. The pain I felt was intense and excruciating but I could do nothing. God always has a reason for everything. When I walk through the streets, I see disabled people and mad people roaming about and begging for money. I see how people misbehave because of money, how some turn to prostitutes just to put food on heir table. It is really sad to see but this is life. Even though I hate what I see, I can not do anything about it.
We live in a world where the strong survive by preying on the weak. There is a rich middle and poor class. The rich get richer while the poor has a slim chance of being like the rich. Things are not going well and many people have given up in life because of one reason or the other.
If there is nothing to be grateful about, I am personally grateful for the gift of life and being able to live comfortably without much stress.
I went for ward posting in Federal Medical center umuahia few weeks ago and the rate of Chronic kidney disease was high. Most of the patients developed this deadly disease due to one reason or the other. I am sad and happy at the same time. Though I am not different from those people who are sick and less opportune, I am grateful to the most high for his mercy and love. Right from the day in which I was conceived till date, the world has worked to ensure that I will not survive, starting from my mother's immune system. Little did I know that God has a bigger plan for me and he has protected me, guided me and provided for me when I thought all hope was lost.
The only thing I could think of when I saw this topic was to give thanks to the most high for creating life.
