My city and hometown are eight to ten hours by bus. The buses usually provide stoppage to freshen up halfway through the journey. We usually have to do our lunch and dinner during a day and night trip accordingly. And, sometimes even breakfast too.

There are many available restaurants where the bus stops. On my last trip to my hometown, I had breakfast and lunch in such a place.

Let me share the food experience.

    The breakfast

I ordered Roti with Dal and Vegetable. The flatbread is roti, it was soft, fluffy, and warm. The dal is the chickpea curry, and the vegetable is a mixed veggie curry.

The price was only 15 and 25 takas accordingly. That is $.30 equivalent.

This is not a fancy dinner nor I have ordered any non-veg menu. Just a simple breakfast to prepare myself for the long trip. And it's perfect for that. The food was simple and comforting.

I had a cup of milk tea at the end. It was only 20 taka or $.15 equivalent. You can tell by the color of it that the tea was good, right?

    The menu

The restaurant's name was Kutum, located in Kollayanpur Bus Stand- Dhaka.

This is the simplest yet comforting breakfast.

I ordered rice, mixed vegetable curry with dal.

The vegetable was 10/10. But the lentil curry (the liquid one) was average. It was only 50 and 30 takas accordingly.

This restaurant is called Food Village, it was halfway through my journey. I paid 145 takes with VAT. It was very reasonable. The lunch was good, enough to go for the day.

You may wonder why I chose this simple menu. Well, the first reason was I wanted something comfortable to go for the day without having any bowel issues. And the second reason is, these are very local restaurants. I have doubts about their hygiene so I usually avoid non-veg in such places.

But I know they offer a good non-veg menu too. Many try them and they have a good reputation for beef curry. So it
s just my personal preference to choose such simple food.

You know what, thousands of people survive on this menu? Simple vegetable curry and Dal, that's our simplest food. You can call it frugal food but this is what it is.

I love this simple food sometimes over anything fancy. They are much more comfortable and perfect during road trips.
