The reason why I am showcasing this isn't because the base jumping was stupid or anything, people do stuff like this all over the world and when I was in Krabi once, a guy base jumped from the top of a limestone cliff. He didn't have permission to do this and I don't think he ever even sought it out, just like the people that base-jumped from the Emsphere shopping mall in Bangkok.

The crazy thing about this jump is that the building in question isn't really even that tall so in the video, the guys that filmed it had to throw their chutes like right away. If the chute didn't open right away I guess they would just splatter onto the ground below.
Unfortunately I can't find the video on YouTube because YT is a little bitch that will censor just about anything. I've been told it is on TikTok but since I don't use that, this is where it will remain.

There's where you can watch it if you want, I think.
This isn't the first time anyone has tried this in Bangkok, it is just the first time on this particular building. There are a lot of larger buildings that people have base jumped off of in Bangkok and it is probably a good place for people that do this sort of crazy stunt because security is basically non existent for a lot of these things.
What's funny to me has been the very serious reaction on the part of the police about his when they likely wouldn't even know about it had it not been for the people posting the video online and it going viral. They seemed more upset about the fact that the jumpers landed in the nearby park where they had their motorbikes waiting and the reason they are upset about this is because the park was closed at that hour. Haha! What a silly aspect of this entire thing to be the thing that ticks you off. Forget about the fact that the jumpers apparently experienced zero difficulty in getting onto the rooftop in a shopping mall. That's all fine, right?
Then the police complained about how the jumpers were driving recklessly in the streets afterwards and to anyone that has ever seen how literally everyone drives in the streets of BKK, this is just laughable. I've seen the video, they were not driving any more recklessly than everyone else does. If anything, they were more calm and concise with their movements than the average motorbike taxi.
Thailand has vowed to catch the perpetrators should they ever return to Thailand and take them to court. I say good luck with that seeing as how they don't have any idea who they are and only assumed they were Americans by their accent.
The shopping mall has gotten really upset as well although I am sure they don't mind the free publicity. They have vowed to install rooftop security cameras as well as employ more night watchmen. Here's an idea!: how about lock the doors to the roof access... problem solved!
