Spring is here! Next week might get a bit chilly again, but this week has already seen temperatures over 15°C. I’m almost tempted to start sowing seeds already — but every year when I sow too early, I regret it. So, I’m holding myself back until at least mid-March.
It feels like the plants on my balcony are starting to grow faster. Not only purslane but also lamb’s lettuce is ready to be harvested. I’ve also been able to pick some parsley and other herbs to use in my daily cooking.
In last week's gardening journal, I mentioned that I failed to overwinter some chili plants. However, it looks like two pots — one with colorful chilies and the other with Charapita (a wild chili variety) — have survived and are now starting to grow new leaves. I'm so relieved that at least some of them made it through!
With the sun shining brightly, I just couldn’t resist gardening. I planted some plants that I brought back from Portugal as souvenirs. I hope they take root and grow well here in Germany!
The Monstera cutting I had sitting in water has grown enough roots, so I’ve now planted it in a pot. I'm thinking about giving it to a friend or placing it on the neighborhood exchange shelf.
It really feels like spring is just around the corner here in Germany. From next week, I’ll start sowing spring and summer seeds little by little.
And, last but not least, I will have a garden! I went to join garden work day of a garden club where my friend has a patch. I got a document to have a patch next to my friend. Gardening is already fun but with friends, it’s even more 😊

春ですね！来週はまた少し冷えるようですが、今週は15度を超える日もあって、フライングして種をまいてしまいそうになっています。でも毎年まいて後悔するので、まだだまだだと3月半ばを過ぎるのを待っています。
バルコニーの植物の成長が心なしかスピードアップしてきたようで、スベリヒユだけでなく、ノヂシャも採れるようになってきました。パセリなどハーブも採れていて日々の料理に使っています。
先週のガーデンジャーナルに越冬に失敗したと書いた唐辛子は、カラフル唐辛子とチャラピタという原種の唐辛子の2鉢は大丈夫だったようで、葉を出し始めました。無事なものがあってよかったです。
太陽がふりそそぐ中、ガーデニングをせずにはいられず、ポルトガルのお土産の植物を鉢に植えました。ドイツで無事根付いてくれるといいな。
水挿していたモンステラは十分根が育っていたのでこちらも鉢植えに。友人に譲るか、近所の交換棚に持っていくかしようと思います。
そしてそして！庭を借りられることになりました。友人が借りている区画の隣で、家から少し距離がありますがとても楽しみです😊
そんなこんなでドイツも春近し。来週あたりからは徐々に春夏の植物の種をまき始めようと思います。
