A sparrowhawk grabbed a fieldfare thrush

Today was a nice quiet and warm sunny day and I was happily walking to the bird feeder where I liked to leave seeds for them. Strangely, there was no one near the feeder. Usually at this time there are a lot of tits, which quickly grab the seeds from the feeder and sit on the branches to eat them.

I poured some seeds into the feeder and decided to go further to see if there were any more birds. Not far away in the bushes there were several fieldfares, hiding among the branches.

Before I could move away from the feeder, I heard a loud bang and saw a sparrowhawk grab a fieldfare in mid-flight and fly towards the river bank.

I immediately headed in his direction. Right on the shore I saw a hawk that was pressing a thrush to the snow with its paws.

Seeing me, the hawk jumped up, grabbed its prey and flew towards the shore. But it couldn't fly far - apparently the load was heavy.

He sat down among the dried-up bushes of large grass and apparently hoped that I would not be able to get close to him.

The thrush tried to break free, but the hawk held the prey tightly in its claws.

Apparently the hawk was hungry and he was not going to let go of his food.

He clearly intended to have a good dinner. I did not disturb him and went further into the forest. When I returned back 2 hours later, the snow that had begun had already completely covered the place where the hawk was sitting.
