Vertige

I've always been inclined to watch movies that have as their theme the survival instinct that emerges in humans in the aftermath of the cruelty of nature. In such productions, the characters are initially quite fragile and have many weaknesses.

As the story of the movie progresses, when the development of the characters in the light of new developments is transferred to the audience in stages, the viewing pleasure is multiplied. Moreover, the narratives that are shown as weaknesses at the beginning become important characteristics of the characters as the movie progresses, and the character overcomes his/her own fear in a way.

I can say that Vertige, a French production that can serve as an example of what I am talking about, presents a gripping story that combines the cruelty of nature with the survival instinct of human beings. The movie successfully reflects the horror and thriller genre, offering unique landscapes as well as excellent visuals for viewers interested in mountaineering and extreme sports.

The movie is about a group of close friends who embark on a climbing adventure in a dangerous area, and when the journey becomes a journey of no return, it becomes a test of fears and friendships.

I will never understand why people with a fear of heights would do similar climbs, because it's such a fear that it's hard to be the one watching them, let alone the one doing the climbing. I know this from myself, I should especially mention that I close my eyes in moments of tension triggered by moments of climbing and dangerous situations. Lol

Visually, the movie was spectacular. The majestic yet frightening landscapes add to the atmosphere of the movie. I felt a sense of height and instability, perhaps my fear of heights played a role in this, but I still thought the shots were ingenious. The scenes on a narrow rope bridge were tense and difficult to watch.

The performances of the actors were generally good, but there were moments when the fear was overdone. In the moments where friendships were questioned, the path they chose instead of fighting against the common threat seemed pointless to me, and the momentum of the movie was lost for a while. If the tension of nature and the common threat had been used enough, I would have called the movie a legend, but I think the lack of acting in a few scenes spoiled the story a bit.

In addition to the unique landscapes and tense atmosphere of the movie, I liked the proportional use of nature and human threat. If I ignore the clichés in some aspects of the story and the lack of actors in a few scenes, I can say that the movie is extremely successful.

I must warn you that there are some very impressive scenes in the movie, especially if you have a fear of heights like me. The movie successfully blends both natural and human dangers and contains visually impressive scenes with high adrenaline. You should definitely watch it, but those with a strong fear of heights should be careful.
