It's that time of the year again when my town is usually agog with trade fairs. You know the festive season is around the corner, and the trade fair is a great platform where people can shop for exciting products at discounted prices. It's just like a local Black Friday event, offering great deals and discounts.
Since the beginning of this month, November, there has been several trade fairs organized by various business groups, but this particular one is organized by the Aba Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, (ACCIMA), an organization that promotes trade, commerce, and industry in Aba, Abia State, Nigeria. It is tagged "Aba International Trade Fair, 2024"
The Aba trade fair is an annual event and the aim is to showcase local businesses, products, and services, and to provide opportunities for entrepreneurs, investors, and consumers to connect. As vendors display their products and services, they attract both the window shoppers and customers alike, to their stands and offer them amazing deals.
This year's trade fair will last for ten days from November 28th to December 7th, 2024 and the location is Aba Mega Mall, Osisioma beside Osisioma Park.
I'm usually excited about trade fairs and I don't miss a chance to attend. Who doesn't like snagging great deals, hehehe. As today was the kick off day, I decided to go check out things. I actually went with some of my colleagues as we equally have a stand there as a media partner of the event. So we would be broadcasting the event live on radio. Participants, that's the vendors, can also have their products and services advertised on radio too. That's killing two birds with one stone, lol.
As it was day one today, the turnout was low. Only few vendors were on ground, and had their goods displayed. Some shoppers also came around and made purchases.
Well I'm a shopper so I tried this yogurt and the taste got me hooked. It's simply yum yum and nutritious too. It was sold at ₦1,000 ($0.58). I need to stop myself from taking it everyday. 😂
I guess the low turnout was because construction work is still ongoing. As you can see some of the stands are yet to be completed. Moreover, the official opening will be on Saturday, the 30th. Who knows, some vendors might prefer to come by then. Whichever it is, I'm hoping that there will be impressive turnout from tomorrow. The place needs to start buzzing with activities, music and funfare already. It's a trade fair after all. 😅
Here are photos of some of the businesses and vendors.
Tasty Sharwama
There's also a religions organization too.
