As a movie lover, I enjoy both life and animated movies as long as they're interesting, educational, and entertaining. I do not discriminate against any of the two and always just want to enjoy the entertainment the movie has to offer.
The recent animation series I watched is titled Iwaju, and it made me really happy to see Disney picking up interest in such a collaboration.
This series opened my eyes to the possibility of Nigerians embracing their local series or movies in animation, and this would go a long way in passing our culture across the globe since kids and teenagers have huge interest in animated movies.
I know a lot of adults who enjoy animation as well, which is fantastic because I believe animated movies aren't restricted to any age and anyone can watch them as long as they enjoy them. Many adults feel shy to speak about their love for animation, but I am not one of them because I don't hesitate to tell my friends about any animated movie that impresses me.
I have been around for a few decades now and can confidently say that the animation industry has grown a lot, just like the normal movie industry has grown over the years. I have been watching animated movies for over two decades now, and I can point out a lot of things that have improved in the industry.
Should we talk about the top-class graphics or the story lines that are capable of making you glue to your screen longer than you planned? Should we talk about the market and how much these animated movies generate annually? It is a clear fact that a lot of good development has happened with the use and acceptance of animation around the world.
The growth in the animation industry isn't just restricted to movies, and it's great to see how the use of animation has been helpful in the education sector. I was a teacher for a while, and one of the things I realized was that students, especially the younger ones, assimilate better when taught with visual objects, so incorporating animation into learning has been fantastic.
I was watching a documentary some time ago, and the use of advanced animation in classrooms caught my attention because the kids paid so much attention to what they were watching. I have seen people speak poorly about the use of television in classrooms, and it makes me laugh because they don't understand that acquiring knowledge can be done in different ways as long as it doesn't affect the kids negatively. What matters is that the kids are learning, and for creche, kindergarten, and even nursery class, I think teaching with animation should be widely accepted.
If we look at my home today, parents make their children stay focused on learning with the help of animated teaching videos, rhymes, and many others.
The development with the use of animation has done quite a lot and has gotten more attention, but I believe that the best is yet to come. I foresee a future where the use of animation will inspire people to put their content out there in animated forms more than in real-life movies.
I have thought about this several times, and it's one of my wishes to be able to make animated movies or series out of my short stories since I write them a lot, but it requires a lot of resources, which I don't have at the moment.
The real-life movie industry doesn't have much to offer us other than quality movies. Do you know how many people are so passionate about acting, directing, and even producing a movie but couldn't just because they didn't get the opportunity due to the number of people competing for the few spots available in the real-life movie industry?
It's all different with animation because the opportunities attached are numerous. I believe it will create opportunities and pave the way for people who are ready to acquire the skills and put them to use.
