Not the News I'd Hoped For!

Sometimes "that feeling" of always paddling upstream seems to reach a fever pitch, and lately we have really been getting there.

To add a little extra to load at a time when I had primarily been hoping to just navigate an unexpected extra tax bill, our Jeep broke down a couple of days ago.

It's actually our daughter's Jeep that we got as a hand-me-down when they got a new SUV because the baby is coming soon.

But regardless, we had to have it towed to our auto shop with a suspected fuel line/fuel pump issue, but it turned out there was so much more that needed to be worked on that we instead are now looking at an imminent $2,100 car repair bill.

Feels a bit like a kick in the stomach, at this point.

Coming on top of the tax bill, and the fact that right now is possibly the least opportune time to sell any of our crypto to fund the bill. This stuff all seems to have a knack for happening at the same time and makes me want to just stop everything and not even bother anymore. I wonder why that is? Why does it all happen like this?

I laughed a bit to myself when the repair estimate came in, thinking about a recent article I read — just last month — that as of the beginning of 2025, 59% of Americans cannot afford an unexpected $1,000 expense.

This, of course, is more than twice as much.

And so — much against my better judgment — we will end up having to borrow money to pay for the repair because we don't live someplace that has functional public transit nor distances that can be walked.

Whereas I do live in the USA, there are certain times I have to admit that "the system" back in my native Denmark actually works a lot better — aka is more human-centric — than the system here in the States.

    But enough about that!

If I didn't have enough motivation to work on getting all those "bit and pieces" in our house sold — ahead of our move next year — I certainly do now. Hopefully I can round up enough collectible knick-knacks in all these boxes to round up an additional $2,100 from somewhere.

    This, too, shall pass...

At least that's what I keep telling myself... even though it's likely more of a platitude than a motivation.

Ironically, just the day before the Jeep broke down, we were talking about how this year it will have been ten years since we last took time of for just a trip to do nothing. Funny how that sort of thing also seems to happen! With alarming reliability...

Meh... whatever. I guess we can make it for another year or two without time off. We've made it this far.

And with that thought, I'm going to try to catch u with my sleep... got a heavy work day tomorrow!

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great rest of your week!
