I was doing much better on Tuesday. I got a load of dishes in the dishwasher, the seedlings fed, chores done and laundry started before I went outside to work at 9:30AM.
The white oak tree sheds hundreds of small branches every year. With all the high winds lately, the back yard was a mess. If I was going to do the tarps from the Small garden on Saturday, I had to clean up as much of it as I could before it rained.
I managed to get half of it done on the first try. I rested for an hour and tried again, managing to get ¾ of it done. There’s just the area by the cold frames and smoker and under the oak tree left.
My son came and got the piles picked up before it rained. I asked him to put them into the wood shed in containers. They are full of small branches that I hope will be good for starting fires. So sometime I will have to go out and pull them out of the leaves and grass to store.
I would have much preferred to be cleaning out this East Shed garden and feeding it but priorities…
When I was raking by the New East garden I noticed the lungwort’s first flowers were open.
Also in this garden, a daffodil was about to open.
Then I went to get a better photo of the magnolia buds.
I had finished around noon and rested and got a shower. After my appointment, I was worn out. The rain started just as I got home from the appointment. I got the laundry done but not much else got done.
I decided I would miss exercise class on Wednesday as I’d probably not be in great shape and my general helper was coming at noon to do the 12 seedling trays. I hadn’t been able to finish cleaning the kitchen nor feed the house plants. I hope to get that done first thing, and then start prepping for the seed starting. They say we have a nor’easter coming in the end of this week, maybe even 1” – 4” of snow. I hope it’s 1” (or no inches) as I hope to get the tarps off the Small garden on Saturday.
