$1 New Hampshire Goldback

in voilk •  5 months ago

This is it! My review of the last of the goldbacks I had previously bought. This one features the State of New Hampshire.

If you've seen some of the other designs, you'll notice that there is typically a female personification of a virtue, depicted as a Native American.

    Obverse

My camera skills on this one failed pretty badly. Here is a stock photo from JM Bullion, so you can better appreciate the design and details.

In this image we have "Gratia" depicted in what I imagine is supposed to be a natural setting for the Native American tribes of this region. You can see a home in the background, with a pumpkin in the foreground, along with what looks like a cat.

    Reverse

The reverse on a goldback is simply a mirrored, more reflective image of the obverse. The material is so thin, adding a design to the back would clash with the design on the front.

    Specifications
    Weight: 1/1000 Troy ounce
    Purity: .999
    Dimensions: 146.3 x 63.7 x 0.1 mm (Source)

Thanks to those who've stuck with me on this Goldback series over the past couple of months. I'll have more exciting pieces to share soon! 😁
