En este post les quiero hablar sobre el último libro que he leído hasta el momento Amanecer en la cosecha - Suzanne Collins. Este libro nos cuenta la historia de Haymitch Abernathy a quien conocemos (claro, quienes ya sabemos sobre la historia de los juegos del hambre) como el mentor de Katniss y Peeta en la historia principal.
Los juegos del hambre consiste en elegir 2 personas (un chico y una chica) de cada uno de los 12 distritos para que luchen entre si, al final gana quien sobreviva. Como ya sabemos, para ser mentor en los juegos del hambre debes haber ganado los juegos del hambre, Haymitch participa a sus 16 años, además, en honor al Vasallaje de los Veinticinco, se llevarán no 2 tributos de cada distrito (como es costumbre) si no 4. En esta historia vemos como es separado de sus seres amados y enviado a armar todo un show para el capitolio.

This book tells us the story of Haymitch Abernathy who we know (of course, those of us who already know about the story of the hunger games) as the mentor of Katniss and Peeta in the main story.
The hunger games consists of choosing 2 people (a boy and a girl) from each of the 12 districts to fight against each other, at the end whoever survives wins. As we already know, to be a mentor in the hunger games you must have won the hunger games, Haymitch participates at his 16 years, in addition, in honor of the Vassalage of the Twenty-Five, they will take not 2 tributes from each district (as usual) but 4. In this story we see how he is separated from his loved ones and sent to put on a show for the capitol.
Desde un principio tuve claro que no debía encariñarme con ninguno de los personajes, en especial con los que van a los juegos junto con Haymitch ya que tenía más que claro que estos no sobrevivirían, sin embargo me fue imposible no hacerlo, él desarrolla un gran cariño con todas estas personas y al conocerlas mejor se da cuenta de que son algo más de lo que él pensaba. Me impresionó que algunas muertes fueron más rápidas de lo que tenía esperado y otras dentro de la arena son bastante graficas y crueles, lo que nos deja en claro hasta donde es capaz de llegar el capitolio.
Pudimos conocer más sobre personajes como Mags y Effie, quienes ahora sabemos que estuvieron para Haymitch desde el principio ayudándolo de la forma en la que podían al igual que Beetee y Plutarch quienes además presentan su iniciativa ante Haymitch de crear un plan que termine con el capitolio y con el presidente Snow.
Conocemos a Haymitch cono alguien que tiene el alcohol como única amor pero aquí descubrimos que hubo una chica quien le había robado el corazón, además este personaje nos porta más información sobre la historia, sabemos que viene de la bandada el mismo grupo de músicos de donde proviene Lucy Gray. También conocemos los nombres de los padres de Peeta y Katniss y nos es revelado que Haymitch tenía bien claro quien era Katniss desde un principio pues ser la hija de su antiguo mejor amigo.
From the beginning I had clear that I should not get attached to any of the characters, especially with those who go to the games with Haymitch since I had more than clear that they would not survive, however it was impossible for me not to, he develops a great affection with all these people and to know them better he realizes that they are something more than what he thought. I was impressed that some deaths were quicker than I had expected and others inside the arena are quite graphic and cruel, which makes it clear how far the capitol is capable of going.
We get to know more about characters like Mags and Effie, who we now know were there for Haymitch from the beginning helping him in any way they could, as well as Beetee and Plutarch who also present their initiative to Haymitch to create a plan to end the capitol and President Snow.
We meet Haymitch as someone who has alcohol as his only love but here we discover that there was a girl who had stolen his heart, also this character brings us more information about the story, we know that he comes from Covey the same group of musicians where Lucy Gray comes from. We also know the names of the parents of Peeta and Katniss and it is revealed that Haymitch was very clear who Katniss was from the beginning because she was the daughter of his former best friend.
En términos generales pienso que es un libro bastante melancólico, pues te hace entender muchas cosas y sufres más porque sabes como termina todo, en especial cuando regresa a su distrito lo único que espera es regresar con su familia y su amada, pero tenemos en claro que no será así. Vemos la historia de una persona buena y que trataba vivir de la mejor forma posible convertirse en un hombre solitario y sin esperanzas. Aún así, me reconforta saber que su amor Lenore Dove lo mantuvo vivo, gracias a la promesa que le hizo Haymitch logra seguir adelante con el objetivo de algún día terminar con todo, le toma 25 años pero lo consigue y además de eso me alegra que encontrara la forma de querer de nuevo a través de Katniss y Peeta, siempre he pensado que los protegía no solo por ser su mentor o por ser parte de la revolución si no porque genuinamente les había agarrado cariño y ahora al saber que conoció a los padres de ambos le agrega mucho sentimiento.
En fin, es un libro con casi 500 páginas pero vale completamente la pena leerlo, me lo terminé en 3 días y eso no es común en mi. Le doy 5 estrellas y espero con ansias la película.
Por cierto, Suzanne Collins ¿No te basta con arruinarle la vida, también tenías que arruinar su cumpleaños? ¿Cómo es eso de que el escucha a su hermano diciendo ¨Feliz cumpleaños Haymitch¨ cada vez que amanece un día de la cosecha? me rompió el corazón saber eso.
In general terms I think it is a very melancholic book, because it makes you understand many things and you suffer more because you know how everything ends, especially when he returns to his district the only thing he hopes is to return to his family and his beloved, but it is clear that it will not be like that. We see the story of a good person who tried to live in the best possible way and became a lonely and hopeless man. Even so, I am comforted to know that his love Lenore Dove kept him alive, thanks to the promise that Haymitch made to him he manages to move forward with the goal of someday ending it all, it takes him 25 years but he gets it and besides that I am glad he found the way to love again through Katniss and Peeta, I have always thought that he protected them not only for being their mentor or for being part of the revolution but because he had genuinely got fond of them and now knowing that he met the parents of both adds a lot of feeling.
Anyway, it's a book with almost 500 pages but it's completely worth reading, I finished it in 3 days and that's not common for me. I give it 5 stars and look forward to the movie.
By the way, Suzanne Collins, wasn't it enough that you ruined his life? You had to ruin his birthday too? How come he hears his brother saying "Happy Birthday Haymitch" every time Reaping Day dawns? It broke my heart to hear that.
