"Love is a beautiful feeling and the most powerful force of nature. Everyone wants to love and be loved as well because love makes the world a beautiful place".
"Love at it's peak leads to a lasting union in what is termed as marriage...every girls dream. Every girl dreams of walking down the isle in a perfectly white wedding gown, marching towards her handsome macho prince charming, ready to declare to the world, those two essential words...I do* and then live happily ever after... so sweet"*.
This was the short speech I gave to dear friend, Tonia, who didn't believe in love.
"So you want to tell me that you are down for this forever thing" she asked, to which I gave a resounding yes.
"That's your choice anyways so I can't fault you in that but do you have anyone you are crushing on?" She continued.
"Not at the moment girl but if I do, you'll be the first to know ok" I replied.
" So tell me what are the qualities that makes one an ideal love partner for you?"
"Hmm, that's easy because like Jennifer Lopez, my love don't cost a thing though it comes costly
The traits I look out for in a prospective partner include;
His looks I like men who take out time to groom themselves and appear attractive. Well shaved beards, neatly trimmed finger nails, well ironed clothes plus a good fashion sense as well. Intelligence quotient Next after good looks is his IQ. I don't seem to flow well with people who are not smart or don't understand the rules of engagement. Even if looks brought you to my front porch, the guy's mental capacity will make a way for him through the door. I like men that I can engage with mentally and who are on par with me. He should be able to carry on a conversation with clarity and depth. Prudent and understanding He should be one who makes wise judgements on issues and not just act on his whims. He should also be tolerant and able to deal with an understanding mind. Temperance The guy should have mastery over his desires and temper. I detest men who use their fists on the woman they claim to love. That is absolutely unacceptable to me. To add to the above, the guy should be a diligent worker, not slothful nor wasteful of his resources, able to care and pay attention to me when necessary and he should also be a romantic guy. Last but not the least, he must be a citizen and a worshipper of God. One who understands the true value and intent of having a family. A team leader and player, able to protect his territory and loved ones. "That's what I like in my partner, are you ok now miss interviewer?" I teased Tonia. "You've really thought things through, good luck to you girl" she said giving me a thumbs up. I smiled eyeing her "So what about you, what qualities do you admire in a partner?" She looked at me, smiled and shook her head vigourously. I knew she wasn't going to spill freely. Thank you all for reading.
