Compliments of the season to the Diyhub community, and I am excited to be participating in this DIY Christmas contest.
It's that time of the year a lot of people across the world look forward to. The holiday means a lot to people, most especially me, who take it as an opportunity to relax and create beautiful memories with my family. In addition, it's a perfect opportunity to put smiles on people's faces, and all of these are the essence of this festive holiday.
I have been thinking hard about the contest and really wanted to do something really creative. It took me time to settle on one of the ideas I came up with. I hope you all love it.
Materials used.
Green & White Cardboard
Scissors
Evostick glue
Colored candy
An empty bottle of wine
Carton
An empty can
Procedure
I started by ensuring the wine bottle is clean and dry since I will be doing a lot of work on it.
- I folded my cardboard just like the image below and cut out the long rectangles. I folded it three times so I can cut 3 rectangles at once; that saves time.
- After cutting out the long rectangle, I rolled the rectangle up from one end to another.
- I repeated the same procedure for the rectangular shape and might be doing more of the rectangles if these three pieces won't be enough.
- I started cutting the rectangles on one side after stretching them again and did that from one end of the rectangle to the other.
- I moved on to applying Evostick glue on the bottle, starting from the bottom, and I started wrapping the rectangle around it.
- I kept applying the Evostick glue upwards on the wine bottle and wrapping the cardboard around the bottle until it was completely covered.
- I moved from wrapping the wine bottle to attaching my colored candy on it, and this must be done carefully.
- I applied a tiny bit of Evostick on different point on the tree and gently placed the colored candy on it.
- I repeated the process until the candies were clearly visible in the bottle wrapped with cardboard.
- I also covered the bottle cork as well before moving to the next stage of my craft.
- There is no Christmas tree without a star on it, so I went on to make a star from a drink can. I cut a can open and drew a star with a needle on the can.
- I cut out the star and applied Evostick glue on the back of the star.
- I placed a short broom behind the star as well and allowed it to dry properly.
- I created a hole in the bottom cork and inserted the broom holding the star.
- The star sat comfortably on the bottle, and my Christmas tree is set.
I wasn't satisfied with just the tree sitting there, so I made more designs to boost the beauty of the tree.
I drew a Christmas tree on a carton and cut it out.
- I also cut out the same tree size on the green cardboard and glue them to the carton. I put them aside to dry properly.
- I cut out a big rectangle from the carton and covered it with a white cardboard of the same size.
- I opened the bottom of the Christmas trees, applied Evostick glue on the bottom, and placed them on the white rectangle card.
- I waited till they properly dried before arranging some colored candy on the white card. I applied Evostick glue on the candy and arranged them on the white card.
- After they have all dried, I placed my bottle Christmas tree on a space I left open on the white card, and my Christmas tree craft is ready.
- To add more beauty, I placed a light bulb beneath the bottle tree, and it turned up my craft.
I hope you enjoyed going through the process with me. Let me know your thoughts about this simple craft.
