Last year I had lots of fun with my drums. I have been playing for a few years now and am starting to feel confident in playing with others. The study/studio is getting full with all my gear. I have two kits set up so I can play either electronic or acoustic. The latter is really only for when I am home alone as it is seriously loud. I have kept my Yamaha DD-65 as it has uses. I could fire samples from it. Up on the cupboard is a drum my parents bought in India. I have not incorporated that into my kit yet. There is also a djembe someone in the room too.
At the start of last year I got my Tama Club Jam kit that has already done a few gigs. It was only a couple of months ago that I upgraded the cymbals. I need to change the skins too some time. There are a few other drumming items I would like, but I have to save up for them.
I played my first big festival gig at Goatfest with our folk band. I also did the little Druid Fest as well as some open mic sessions.
I do not have anything lined up for this year yet, but am up for more gigs. Maybe there will be one with our jazz group. We are all still learning that style. I will be happy to play with any of my friends who need the beats.
I play most days and that is often some lessons on Drumeo. They have so much content there. I do mention Hive in my forum posts on the site, so maybe someone will take notice. I am just wary of pushing it too hard on people. I just want to see more musicians here and created this community for drummers. Drumeo have month student collaborations and I have participated in some of those.
I have been thinking about some in person lessons if I can find a local teacher. I attended a masterclass with Todd Sucherman last year, but I need something one-to-one that is a bit cheaper. I need that instant feedback on what I am doing.
Music is an endless journey and can be enjoyed at any level. I have played guitar for decades, but wanted to try something different. Drumming is giving me new challenges. It exercises the mind, body and soul.
Beat it!
