As a family tradition, almost as important as putting up the tree or making hallacas, on January 1st I make a tour of the city. Today I want to share with you my experience this year exploring the streets of Maracay from my motorcycle.

I inherited this custom from my mom, who used to enjoy the tranquility of the city after the hectic days of December. There is something special about seeing the empty streets, the silence interrupted only by the wind, as if the city itself was resting after the festivities.

On this occasion, I decided to start my tour along Constitución Avenue and proceed to the Mapket Supermarket, located on the iconic Las Delicias Avenue. A journey that, on a normal day, would take more than 10 minutes due to the usual traffic in Maracay, but that on January 1st I managed to do in just 5 minutes. The city looked like a frozen picture in time, asleep, giving a glimpse of a peace that is rarely experienced.

However, it is important to be cautious on these types of rides. During these holidays, not all drivers drive with the necessary attention, so it is crucial to be alert to avoid accidents.

This ride reminded me why this tradition is so meaningful to me: it's a time to connect with my city in a different way, away from the hustle and bustle and with a refreshing air. I hope you enjoyed this little journey with me and that you are encouraged to explore your own cities on such special days. See you soon on a new tour!
