Greetings, my dear friends. I hope you are very well, in good health and well-being, and that you are having the best day possible.
At the invitation of the Library of my community, I attended a workshop for the elaboration of a handmade book.
The meeting for the workshop took place this past Wednesday morning. Excited and very enthusiastic to be part of this group of craftswomen, I arrived early and met my activity partners and we talked for a long time.

Atendiendo a la invitación que hizo la Biblioteca de mi comunidad, asistí a un taller para la elaboración de un libro artesanal.
El encuentro para el taller se dio este miércoles pasado en la mañana. Emocionada y muy entusiasmada por formar parte de este grupo de artesanas, llegué temprano y me encontré con mis compañeras de actividades y estuvimos conversando un buen rato.
After the presentation and explanation of the step-by-step to make our handmade book, we were given the materials to get down to work.
On the table we had sheets of cardboard, blank sheets of paper, scissors, rulers, rulers, colored markers, glue, tyro or packing tape.
Luego de la presentación y explicación del paso a paso para hacer nuestro libro artesanal, nos entregaron los materiales para ponernos manos a la obra.
En la mesa contábamos con pliegos de cartulina, hojas de papel en blanco, tijeras, reglas, colores marcadores, pegamento, tirro o cinta adhesiva de embalar.

The first thing we did was to prepare the cover or title page, starting with the folds indicated by the teacher. First in half, and then from the middle to the center, on both sides, to form the spine.
Lo primero que hicimos fue preparar la cubierta o portada, a partir de los dobleces que nos indicaba el profesor. Primero por la mitad, y luego de la mitad al centro, por ambos lados, para formar el lomo.
Once the cover is finished, we start making the pages of the book. We fold the sheets of paper in half, carefully, avoiding asymmetries. It is better to do this one by one and not all at once. Then, we pressed with the ruler all the folds we made so that they would be well marked and, finally, we glued the sheets together two by two to form a kind of accordion and put them between the folds of the cover.
Our handmade book was finished. It is a beautiful art to work with paper. The next step was for each of the participants to personalize their book, letting their imagination run wild and with a lot of creativity, but it was time to finish for the day. So we will do this in a next meeting.
I really like this kind of workshops because I love everything that has to do with crafts and also because they are meetings to strengthen bonds of friendship and sharing special moments.
Después de terminada la portada, nos dedicamos a fabricar las hojas del libro. Doblamos las hojas de papel por la mitad, con cuidado, evitando asimetrías. Es mejor hacer esto una por una y no todas a la vez. Luego, presionamos con la regla todos los dobleces que hicimos para que quedaran bien marcados y, finalmente, pegamos las hojas con tirro de dos en dos hasta formar una especie de acordeón y las metimos entre los dobleces de la portada.
Nuestro libro artesanal quedó terminado. Es un hermoso arte para trabajar el papel. El siguiente paso era que cada uno de los participantes personalizara su libro, dejando volar la imaginación y con mucha creatividad, pero llegó la hora de terminar por ese día. Así que esto lo haremos en un próximo encuentro.
Me gusta mucho este tipo de talleres porque amo todo lo que tiene que ver con las manualidades y, además, porque son encuentros para fortalecer lazos de amistad y el compartir momentos especiales.
