Hey fren. I hope your week is good and filled with positive energy. Last week was a roller coaster for me but I’m happy to be feeling energized and motivated about this one.
Anyways, today I want to share with you tales of my struggle with my attention span. Basically, it is very short as I tend get over things quickly. Upon starting a new venture, my excitement is usually unmatched. You could feel it slipping through my pores and in that moment, you could never imagine that it would get to a time when I completely stop thinking about said it.
My short attention span shows itself in everything I do. Whether it is a new hobby, a new friendship, acquiring a new skill or interest. I am bound to lose the zeal for continued participation in it. To ensure my sustained indulgence, something extra has to give.
For many years in a row, I haven’t been able to add a new person to my inner circle because in addition to being quite low on energy with little to pour into people, I also have the thing where I lose interest quickly. And instead of struggling to keep up with a one sided situation where the other party makes most of the effort, I simply communicate to them that I do not have what it takes to make this friendship happen. Maybe in another life.
My mind requires constant or steady stimulation in order to keep it engaged. Sometimes I’m eager to meet new people or start a new project, but over time, usually a short period of time, I start to lose interest. This is one reason I don’t think I can survive working a job I don’t like.
I have to gravitate towards things that will keep my mind engaged and moderately stimulated in order to survive the attention draught in my mind.
Pretty sure I’m not alone.
