Fried Rice as Common Dish in Indonesia
Fried rice, which also known as "nasi goreng" is a common dish in Indonesia. People used to eat them for breakfast or dinner, some even got them as their lunch, probably because they feel tasty and is easy to eat with all ingredient already put together and we just need to spoon them up together with the rice. There are so many variant of fried rice in Indonesia, such a "Kampung fried rice", "Aceh fried rice", "Goat fried rice", "Mawut fried rice", "Briyani fried rice", "Pattaya fried rice", etc.
I personally put fried rice as my top tier food beside the Indonesia traditional food with the peanut sauce like "gado-gado and pecel". I think enough for the introduction of fried rice, we can jump into the next section about how to cook them !
Ingredient
Here is the list that I use for today's breakfast :
Ingredient | Amount | Purpose |
---|---|---|
Rice | 1 and half plates | We need rice for fried rice, aren't we ? I took all the left over rice on my rice cooker |
Oil | 50 ml | Cooking the egg, fish ball, red onion, and the fried rice itself |
Fish Ball | 3 pcs | As an additional toppings for the protein source, you can change them with sausage or anything that you got on your refrigerator |
Eggs | 3 pcs | Main toppings for the fried rice. Give a delicious taste, especially for my kids that loves eating eggs. Got 4 on the pic but I took back 1 of them after realize my rice is not as I expected 🤣 |
Red Onion | 5 pcs | Add more flavour and fragnant |
White pepper | 1 table spoon | Add a little spicy |
Salt | 4 tea spoon | giving salty taste |
Leek | 2 blade | Add more flavour, fragnant, and appereance with green colour |
mushroom broth | 1 tea spoon | Enrich the flavour |
Preparing All Needed
First, slice the red garlic into long thin cuts.
Next there is the fish ball. I decide to slice it like the garlic. For me, it's easy enough to eat them with this slice and it's not hard to get done, than making a cube cuts or polygon cuts 😂
Now slice the leek into tiny cuts.
Start Cooking
First, pour the oil into the pan then heat them up
Then crack all the eggs and put them on the hot oil
Stir them so the white and yellow part is mixed. Eggs need to be first cause we want to makes sure it's well cooked.
Now, put the fish ball and stir it till they are all well cooked.
Now it's time for the red onion and stir them until the fragnant is out and it's colour is turned into light brown. Don't late cause it will give bitter taste once it's burnt.
Now you can stir and mix all the toppings
Now here it's the rice turn to join into the pan.
Stir them well till they are all mixed.
Now pour the salt
And the white pepper as well
Stir them well. You can correct the taste on this stage by adding more salt or the white pepper
Last, put the leek. We won't cook the leek too long to prevent it from getting too withered or burnt.
Mix them well, and try it again. You can give another taste correction for the last time.
Once everything's good, put it on the plate and they are ready to served
