Description from Strava: A really beautiful morning out there. I think it was only about three degrees when we started and my hands were going numb as we started. It was a beautiful and still day, which made for a great run.
I started a little farther back than my wave start cause of the long line in the porta loos but I kinda don't mind starting too far back as it stops me from starting too fast. I did start a bit too fast as I was feeling good and felt like I could keep the pace going for a lot longer than I did. At about the 30km mark I started cramping though and this continued through to the finish line. I still pushed hard and enjoyed the run. I ended with 4th in my age group, which I think is the best I have done in a marathon before and it is a really good result in line for when we go to Townsville.
Awesome to see Kirsty Sesto do well as well, getting one of her best race times in a while.
