Today I will discuss what Labyrinthitis is. How is it caused and what are the early symptoms?

    Labyrinthitis :

Labyrinthitis caused due to inflammation (like swelling) in the labyrinth part of the inner ear. We all know that the ear is the part of the body that makes balance in our whole body. Two eyes, two nostrils, two ears and its senses all together make the body to be balanced. If any of this does not work properly then it causes the sensation of dizziness and nausea. So in Labyrinthitis, one ear labyrinth gets weak and hence our body loses its balance.

Symptoms of this disease are continuous running sound in the ear, vertigo, tilted head, feeling of eye strain, sudden hearing loss( up to 60db), and inadequate compression. These are the symptoms. If you feel any of these you are advised to meet an ENT expert.

    Causes:

The problem can caused due to two main reasons:

    • Viral infection
It is the case when a virus enters your inner part after a long sinus problem.

    • Bacterial infection
It is the case when you suffer from a bacterial infection like typhoid, diarrhea, etc.

    • Other factors consist of Sudden exposure to sound, weakening of nerves, and old age.

    Treatment :

As per my ENT, there is no 100% cure, but we can choose Vertible rehabilitation therapy (VRT) to get relief in vertigo attacks. For Sudden hearing loss, an ENT specialist will start some anti-inflammation medicines, and corticosteroids to provide relief. (All this information is based on my treatment plan, I am not an ENT specialist, If you have any of these symptoms kindly get in contact with the ENT specialist.)

It is also stated to eat a healthy and balanced diet like fruits, dry fruits, and vegetables. Avoid curd, sour, and rice for some time to avoid mucus buildup. Also, drink plenty of water. Live stress stress-free life. Take proper sleep. Your body needs rest for healing. Avoid sudden exposure to sound that is don't use headphones. Reduce the use of mobile phones.

This is how you can manage your Labyrinthitis. It is not a disease with will have your body a lot but if your body is not in balance you will always feel stressed. So its management does need treatment. Also, Tinnitus can cause you to feel irritated, so try to be in a place with some sound. Complete silence may cause your tinnitus worse.

With this note, I conclude my article about Labyrinthitis. In my next article,e I will share my Vertibal rehabilitation therapy with you all. till then stay safe and stay hydrated.

    Thankyou!
