If I’m being honest with myself, my job is one thing that AI will eventually replace. It’s no news on here that I’m a writer, this is my passion and it’s something that I do for a living. We already have AI that can write whatever you want them to write for you, and they can do it for as many words as you want them to. And the catch? It’s free! Or let me just say, it’s cheaper.

Many people prefer to use AI for their write-ups these days because it’s as simple as typing in some commands and seeing what you want to come to life. That’s one of the major threats my industry is facing. But then, AI will never really overtake my industry because it’ll only be attractive to those who want to cut corners.

I used to write a YouTube script for a company, my job was to provide the script and they used it to make a video. We had a great relationship and all was going well. Until they realized that they could use Chat GPT to do the very thing they were paying me for. They used Chat GPT and the script turned out perfect, with all the right punctuations and just the right amount of words to guarantee the video length they were after.

But then, over the course of the next few months, their viewership began to drop. I feel it’s because their audience noticed the sudden shift in tone of their scripts. Telling AI-generated content is pretty easy, they’re always flat and without emotion. While the scripts may be “perfect”, they’ll lack that essential element that will tug at the viewer's heart and make them always come back for more. And in some cases, it can be very obvious.

Computers and robots will never be able to replicate the human element in our stories. Most of the things that inspire us to write are from our life experiences. We draw from things that have happened to us or things that happened to people we know about. We then use them to tell stories that no matter how fictitious they are, we can relate to them simply because we feel a connection to them.

AI will never be able to achieve that. That’s just the fact. So far, people who mostly use AI for their write-ups are those who are lazy and simply want to cut corners, I don’t want them as clients either, because they’ll always want to underpay.

But then, away from writing, I’m also studying to be an Electrical Engineer, and I see it as something that AI and robots can never really take over. Yeah, technology will emerge that will make it easier to handle and safer, but it will never take over to the point where engineers will lose their jobs. Instead, we’d learn to work in tandem with technology as we’re doing already. It’s just like medicine, there’s no way technology can advance that we won’t need doctors. It’s not possible. They can have robots and systems that can perform complex surgeries with 100% accuracy, but there will always be doctors to diagnose and make sure that the robots are doing as they should.

Engineers will be needed for maintenance and the like. Robots are man-made, they’ll get spoiled and need repairs, they’ll need a change of parts from time to time, and they’ll need people to actually design and build them. These things don’t fall from heaven, in this world and in the one to come, engineers will always have a job.

So, my dear friends, I guess I’m lucky to find myself in two of some of the strongest industries. I don’t know what the future holds for me, but whether it has to do with writing or it has to do with engineering, I’m sure that I’ll be fine and I’ll find a way to adjust to the times according to my skills. And if for some reason, the robots and AI do take them from me…

Know that the end time is really around the corner.
