The Business Is Improving Weekly

I was thinking today it was time for a business update because so much is going on you do start to lose track of time. We have been running our new company now for just on 7 weeks and we are learning and improving every day.

The business is proving itself which was never in doubt and the costs are being covered and then some. We are still waiting for the material to land so we can get the trampoline and punch bag business flowing generating its own income. This from what I can gather is only expected at the end of the month and I will only get stuck in with that side of things when we are back from our overseas trip. I see no point in meddling for a few days and would rather see the rolls of material parked off until then so I can monitor guaranteeing no wastage.

I know once this is up and running the new turnover generated will cover most of the monthly costs which is something I am looking forward to seeing. The extras we have done thus far cover around 14% of the monthly budget which is still decent for now with most of it being walk in customers. This is without any type of marketing and why this is seen purely as an unexpected welcome bonus.

The new courier/logistic company I signed up last month has not been without their problems as they kind of lied about their relationship with our main client. This has been more about educating them along the way because I see this as a sink or swim moment. There are two choices you either find someone else which would be impossible because I know what it took to find them in the first place or help them.

The helping them makes more common sense because they are saving the company a fortune even though we have had some hair raising moments. Let us say they can only improve and they are slowly with no major catastrophes to report and only a few near misses.

On the smaller parcel deliveries they are slightly more expensive and using a company we know too well for the final delivery points. We could bypass them and use the same service provider, but voted against this idea due to wanting to build a strong business relationship. I will have a talk with them and not go behind their backs on this subject because the big deliveries is what makes us the major savings and not the small parcels. I am not concerned if they make a small percentage extra for now as long as the other side of the business is taken care of. You cannot win every battle and sometimes you need to be selective.

I have spoken with the landlords this week and we have yet to sign a new lease agreement so it shows they are not overly concerned. I expect we shall do the signing next week with my agreed adjusted down rental for the first 6 months in place.

I have noticed that the staff are smiling and enjoying their work as everything is working as it should and that will only get better improving over time. The selection criteria of who to keep and let go back in February has shown that the correct choices were made even though some were more difficult than others to make.
