Roundway Chalk Horse - Wiltshire

    Hail to the Hive!

As I make my way back and forth between Newton Abbot in Devon and Devizes in Wiltshire I pass by a white horse in the ditance. It triggered a childhood memory of an old TV program that used to show stuff like this.

When I got to the boat I googled it and found out it was the Westbury Horse dating back to 1778. But then I saw there were actually 8 of them dotted atound Wiltshite and one of the latest, the Roundway Horse, which was created to celebrate the Millenium was only a 45 minute walk away. SO off we went!

As we apprached the sight you can see from the arrow the horse isn't visible at all.

And then the gate to the field had this miserable greeting party!

And this my fellow Hive Droners is where the flying magic happens and why we all love these little whirly birds as it gives us access to such a unique vantage point that before was only the privilige of those able to fly in small aircraft or helicopters.

But now I can loiter in a car park and gawk at the wonders of the Roundway Chalk Horse, known as 'Chalkie" to the locals.

You can see the greeting party has moved to an area next to the Horse. Glad we didn't risk it. I didn't like the way they were looking at me at all.

I'm not sure if we will be able to do all 8 of them but after todays flight I wouldn't mind trying to capture some aerial shots of some of the others to compare.

You obviously can't tell but for reference we are just on that turn off road. I'm still amazed at what we can do with these oversized moaquitos with cameras.

    Lovely day out 😁
