Hello Splinterlands Summoners! Our guild completed another brawl and as usual I'll be sharing our performance and updates on my Gladiator card collection. Our recent brawl has been great in terms of performance and SPS rewards. Similarly, my Gladius case pull this time around was quite lucky. Let's dive into it.
Brawl Performance and Ranking
Our guild, **Immortal Gods 4 ** ranked third among the competitors with 101 wins and 67 losses earning a total of one hundred seventeen crowns which we can use to upgrade our buildings.
My personal contribution was four wins out of eight battles or 50% win rate. Each of us earned 6,100 Merits and 88 SPS, a sweet reward for participating in fun battles. With over 6,000 Merits, I headed to the Guild shop to buy Gladius cases.
Guild Shop
I spent 6,000 Merits to buy three Gladius cases. Each case contains five cards with one guaranteed rare or higher. This means that I'll have fifteen new cards to add to my collection. Remember that Gladiator cards cannot be bought, it can only be earned through participation in brawls that's why joining a guild and participating in brawls is important.
Opening the Gladius Case
I consider this a very lucky pull. Even though there were no legendary cards, I managed to get three epic cards including two BCX of Quora! No doubt Quora is the best epic card among the Gladiators and her stats and abilities can compete with legendary cards in my opinion. With this acquisition, my Quora is a step closer to level 3 where she will gain another ability.
Featured Battle
My favorite battle emphasizes my point that teams should be chosen based on the ruleset and available mana. Players must form teams that will be a good fit for battle and not necessarily choose the best card. In the following battle, the ruleset was "Taking Sides" meaning we cannot use neutral units. This will limit our choices to the particular splinter we will choose which are Water, Earth, Death and Dragon. The battle is also capped at a low mana of only 26.
In low mana battles, I usually pick either Earth or Death since I have good low mana cards in both splinters. In this battle I also decided not to use Quora as she requires 10 mana which will severely limit the units I can field in battle.
My Team
I picked the Earth team since I don't have a good Gladiator card to use in the Death splinter. My team are as follows:
Obsidian (Summoner) - She grants +1 magic and my frequent summoner in the Earth team.
Hill Giant (Tank) - Nothing special but he has 6 health for 3 mana which would keep the enemy at bay while my magic damage dealers do their job.
Regal Peryton (Second position) - Combining speed and damage, the Regal Peryton can also serve as second tank with Flying ability, great speed and high health.
Goblin Psychic - (Third position) - Dealing 3 magic damage and has Tank heal to sustain my first position, this card is very versatile. He also has the Affliction ability to counter against healing.
Katrelba Gobson - (Fourth position) - Probably the best common card, she deals insane damage in the enemy backline with 3 melee damage and Double Strike ability.
Fungus Flinger - (Fifth position) - I picked this card because of his Martyr ability in case the opponent has Sneak attackers. He also has the Blind ability as a bonus.
Opponent Team
The opponent depended on his Quora to carry the battle. In spite of the limited mana, he chose a line up composed of only three cards. Even if his cards are stronger since he has two Gladiator cards, my advantage in number cannot be beaten.
He has the Fungus Flinger in the first position which means only two of his cards can do damage. He has a Quora in second position which means his battle plan was to boost his Quora by sacrificing his Fungus Flinger. At third he also has a Katrelba Gobson.
The Battle
The opponent's Quora was indeed boosted by the death of his Fungus Flinger but so was my Katrelba as my own Fungus Flinger absorbed the attack from his sneak attacker. When it was my turn, his own backline was eliminated leaving him with only one card, Quora who was no match against my superior numbers inspite of her powers.
Final Thoughts
Guild brawls are fun and rewarding especially if you have joined a good guild. However, you must also do your part and contribute in the brawl. Choose your fray well and ensure that you have the right cards to be competitive.
