Hello again dear friends, I hope this article meets you well?

    When I saw this question,

What would be the first thing you would remove from your life if you could enhance it in every way? What is the most difficult thing for you to eliminate from your life?”

First word that came to my mind was, “Money”. But that wouldn’t answer the question properly now, would it? I definitely do not want to remove money from my life, lol. I don't want to use the word "Poverty" either, because I don't believe myself to be poor, thankfully. So, let's make it make sense. Let's find the right word together.

People say things like, “money doesn’t bring happiness or money can’t buy happiness” and whilst that’s actually correct, but, poverty can’t buy happiness either. In fact, poverty can’t afford to buy ANYTHING at all. So, which would one rather have?

Having money in this life, and especially in this present economy is extremely important. You know, I saw a post online that said, the money we are making in this present era, our parents and grandparents didn’t even have to hustle that much to acquire properties and build a life for themselves. But look at us, the money is not even enough to survive talk less build wealth.

Whether we like to admit it or not, money does make the world go round, and I’ll never find anyone shallow for wanting it. True, money does not bring happiness however, imagine craving something and being able to get it at that instant without first calculating how much you’ll have left if you do satisfy that craving.

Or take me for instance. Now, I’m done with my B.Sc. degree and extremely worried or perhaps the better English would be “anxious” about the future. Yet, all I can make right now are plans, which is a good thing, at least, I have plans. But imagine if I had unlimited access to money, I definitely wouldn’t need to be up at 2 AM worrying for the future, instead, I’ll use that time to actualize plans. Whatever it be getting a Master's degree or starting a business or traveling the world. Having more than enough money would give a different meaning to being up at 2 AM.

And so, for us that have to hustle our way to the top, it is extremely important to have financial literacy. How to spend, save, budget, invest, ways to diversify one’s investment portfolio, how to make your money work for you, having extra sources of income including active and passive incomes and so on.

When it comes to financial literacy, especially for people who have no one to show them the ropes and the how’s, it’s really important to not only be prudent but also detest the state of poverty and let it drive you towards acquiring financial freedom.

But, I’ll admit it, I still have some amount of financial ignorance and this “the money will come back” mentality. When I want something, even when I shouldn’t spend the money, I tend to go for it, just because of the mentality that I can never be stranded.

I believe the first thing I’d want to get rid of is this money-will-come-back mentality that makes me financially impulsive. It is a limiting mindset.

However, I have tried. They say action speaks louder than words. I have tried to apply action rather than telling myself “Let's save for the next one year.”. Sometimes, it works. Sometimes, it doesn’t.

But one thing I know that’s for sure is that, placing my savings and desire for financial freedom before my present wants will definitely do me a lot of good. I only hope I acquire the level of discipline it takes.

So, I believe the word I'm looking for is "Financial impulsivity".
