We can experience the greatest joy in the midst of difficulties and trials because God is with us in whom we find security, and He is greater than any problem or difficulty.
I want you to know, brothers, that the things that have happened to me have actually resulted in the advancement of the gospel, 13 so that my imprisonment has become evident in Christ throughout the entire Praetorium and to all the rest. 14 And most of the brothers, being encouraged in the Lord by my imprisonment, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.
15 Some indeed preach Christ from envy and strife, but others from good will. 16 Some preach Christ from strife, not sincerely, thinking to add affliction to my imprisonment; 17 but others from love, knowing that I am appointed for the defense of the gospel. 18 What then? Nevertheless, in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is preached; and in this I rejoice, and will rejoice still.
Philippians 1:12-18
Let's remember for a moment that the apostle Paul was under arrest but could still receive some visitors. Paul was not allowed to leave or travel, and he was likely chained all the time, in addition to being guarded by a Roman soldier. The apostle Paul was very clear that this would be his future; this would be his condition for the rest of his life.
Perhaps in these circumstances, the apostle could have used influence or exhausted all resources to be released. Let's remember that God had called him to spread the word and make disciples in order to reach the Gentile world. Yet, at that moment, he was trapped in Rome, completely unable to visit other believers, much less plant new churches. There's no doubt the apostle himself could have complained to God, having experienced worse situations like persecution, shipwreck, beatings, and much more for the sake of the Gospel.
8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
Philippians 4:8
Thinking about all of this, Paul wrote a letter to the brothers at Philippi while imprisoned. This letter expresses the joy it inspires in us. Here we can see that Paul had the capacity and had developed the skill to focus on God, thus experiencing a reality far above the circumstances he was experiencing.
Let us remember that when we live in a difficult situation we can simply talk and complain and the more we give in to this habit the problem seems much bigger than our faith in God, that is why God invites us to live much more above the circumstances, this happens when we fix our gaze on him, and we focus

Podemos experimentar el mayor gozo en medio de las dificultades y pruebas porque Dios está con nosotros en el hayamos seguridad y él es más grande que cualquier problema o dificultad.
Quiero que sepáis, hermanos, que las cosas que me han sucedido, han redundado más bien para el progreso del evangelio, 13 de tal manera que mis prisiones se han hecho patentes en Cristo en todo el pretorio, y a todos los demás. 14 Y la mayoría de los hermanos, cobrando ánimo en el Señor con mis prisiones, se atreven mucho más a hablar la palabra sin temor.
15 Algunos, a la verdad, predican a Cristo por envidia y contienda; pero otros de buena voluntad. 16 Los unos anuncian a Cristo por contención, no sinceramente, pensando añadir aflicción a mis prisiones; 17 pero los otros por amor, sabiendo que estoy puesto para la defensa del evangelio. 18 ¿Qué, pues? Que no obstante, de todas maneras, o por pretexto o por verdad, Cristo es anunciado; y en esto me gozo, y me gozaré aún.
Filipenses 1:12-18
Recordemos por un momento el apóstol Pablo que él estaba arrestado pero aún así podía recibir algunas visitas, Pablo no tenía permitido salir ni viajar, es probable que estuviese encadenado todo el tiempo, además de ser vigilado por un soldado romano. El apóstol Pablo tenía bien claro que este sería su futuro, el resto de su vida sería esta su condición de vida.
Quizás en estas circunstancias el apóstol podría haber movido influencias o agotado todos los recursos para poder ser liberado, recordemos que Dios le había llamado a difundir la palabra y hacer discípulos para así poder alcanzar al mundo de los gentiles. Aún así en ese momento estaba atrapado en Roma incapacitado totalmente de poder visitar a otros creyentes y mucho menos de plantar nuevas iglesias. No hay duda que el mismo apóstol podría haberse quejado delante de Dios ya que había vivido en peores situaciones como persecuciones, naufragio, golpizas y mucho más a causa del Evangelio.
8 Por lo demás, hermanos, todo lo que es verdadero, todo lo honesto, todo lo justo, todo lo puro, todo lo amable, todo lo que es de buen nombre; si hay virtud alguna, si algo digno de alabanza, en esto pensad.
Filipenses 4:8
Pensando en todo esto lo que vivió Pablo, estando encerrado escribió una carta a los hermanos de Filipo, en cuya carta expresa está el regocijo que nos inspira, aquí podemos observar que Pablo tenía la capacidad y había desarrollado la habilidad de enfocarse en Dios, de esta manera vivir una realidad por mucho más encima de las circunstancias que estaba viviendo.
Recordemos que cuando vivimos en una situación difícil podemos hablar y quejarnos simplemente y cuanto más aún damos en este hábito el problema parece mucho más grande que nuestra fe en Dios, es por eso que Dios nos invita a vivir por mucho más encima de las circunstancias, esto sucede cuando fijamos nuestra mirada en el, y nos enfocamos
