It’s December! Christmas is around the corner. This is a time of joy, love, festivity and celebration. A season to share in the warmth of family and friends, a time of gifting and showing kindness, to show gratitude and share laughter and quality memories.
In spirit of the holiday season, I will be sharing an inspired card design made for my sister @Rayoo. This card wasn’t just inspired by the festive period but also inspired by my sister’s clothing brand “Made my Rayo”
A few days ago, my sister talked about how she wanted to make a Christmas sale card (with discount, and Christmas gift) but unfortunately she didn’t. So, I decided to make a card to celebrate the holidays with respect to her clothing brand, which she can share or send to her customers and others.
To be honest, I was quite clueless about what to make, I am not much of a designer. I searched for inspiration online but I couldn’t find any to my liking. Most were too congested or not to my taste. I gave up, though, and I decided to try create from the ‘love I have for my sister’ inspiration. Hehe..
MY PROCESS. (Using Canva)
- The first thing I did was look for a Christmas-related background that wasn’t too crowded.
- I wanted to, by all means, add the name/label of the brand. So, I uploaded it in a bell-shaped frame.
I added “Season’s Greetings” text to it. Then added some touch of design to give it a pop.
- The card felt incomplete without a heartfelt message, so I added a message to it.
After getting the basics of my design, I changed the colour of the text and added a gold frame around the message.
I also didn’t like the bell-shaped brand name, so I changed to love shape.
After that, I found out the background wasn’t what I wanted ( I loved the colour contrast but not the design on it). This inspired me to create another background with the same colour contrast but a different design.
I looked for two different backgrounds that suited me and placed them in position.
- The card looked quite plain after this, so I added more touch of design.
- It was looking good, and I decided to add “Celebrate in style with Santa Rayo” for a bit humour.
- Finally, I realised I didn’t add a touch of green colour, so I did. And voila!… Here is the final result.
I am so glad I am able to do this, thanks to digital lifestyle prompt
