Do you guys remember Altspace VR? Is it even still up? It's been over a year since I logged into that platform. I suspect that's the same, or longer for most of you. Metaverses and virtual spaces were all the rage during the lockdowns, and they did serve their purpose well, but since the lockdowns ended two years ago, so did interest in the metaverse.

Facebook, which changed its name to Meta in an attempt to corner that market, is probably regretting it right now. In face, they appear to have abandoned that project now judging by how much money is being lost.

I think the metaverse is still coming sometimes in the future, but the tech is just not ready yet. The pandemic but some fire behind it, but now that we're free, the fire has withered away. I also think that crypto tokens that were launched specifically for the metaverse are not going to do well this bull market since their raison d'être is itself in doubt. As such, I am staying away from metaverse coins this run, unless they also overlap the gaming and AI sectors.
