The journey of a thousand miles begins with a step, which for me means, whatever our goal or vision is, we need to take a step towards that goal because opportunities won't just come and meet you inactive, without any vision or action, it will meet with you at the place of action.
Today, I will be writing about a non-hiver, celebrity fashion designer who I admire and get inspiration from at this moment of my life, I believe I've mentioned her in some of my posts, a young lady with a grace to grass story. She is Veekee James, one of the top and highest-paid fashion designers in Nigeria. She is a complete package in a woman, beauty & brains and her designs are so unique, that without being told when we see a top-class design with a unique touch of creativity, we know Veekee James hands are all over it.
Why She Inspires Me.
Most celebrities today are often connected to coming from a wealthy background or have connections or either just frauding their way to the top, but that's a totally different story for Veekee James, her story is often referred to as a grass to-grace story because she was born into a very poor family and they lived in the slums, which further means she had a hard time growing up in that slum, I have watched videos of her, where she took her viewers to house she stayed at, it was unbelievable that someone that talented actually lived in such a terrible situation in the past with her family, but there is a common saying that beautiful things sometimes comes from dirt, all they need is a bit of refinement, and that exactly is Veekee.
The Slum could not hide that talent, just so you know, she isn't just a fashion designer, but a make-up artist as well, a lot of people don't know this about her. Trying to bring her family out of misery and poverty, Veekee tried her hands on many skills, but one that stood out and showcased her to the world was her fashion designing skill, and her first teacher introducing her to the fashion world, was her mum, who was just a roadside tailor, Veekee knew she was more than being a roadside tailor, and trained her self to be the best at what she does, especially after dropping out from the university because she wasn't able to fund her fees, it was a devastating moment, but rather than giving up, she put in all her best into her fashion business, reason why I made sure to source her old images, not the new Classy and sophisticated Veekee James picture we see now, some people see her today, not knowing her background story and say all manner of things against her of how expensive her designs and fashion academy are, she has already built her brand to that level, and there is no limiting or stopping, she didn't just start today, it took years of hard work and commitment, which should be a virtue for any one thriving to become the best in whattttever field we are into.
How she came into the limelight
Remember I said she kept aiming for the best with her creative talent, in no time, she was soon noticed by celebrities, you know how celebrities like to be at the top of their games when it comes to fashion, and against all odd, a talented fashion designer from the slums, got her design which a celebrity wore chosen as the best-dressed celebrity and the next thing, everybody wanted to know who designed the beautiful and unique dress, and all of this the success we see today.
Some people become successful ones and feel they are on top of the world, making them relax, but Veekee didn't she continued working hard, and still bring out new collections of her designs, she is also a singer and skit maker, and one final thing I'm proud of her for is for not being ashame to show the world how she loves and believes in God, which earned her the nickname "Jesus Baby", she never stops putting God as the center of her success story, which changed not only her, she became a blessing to her family and the world around her.
So I hope this post reaches out to a reader out there who is thinking of giving up, putting your poor background as an excuse not to keep on thriving hard, giving your best at what you do, don't give up, keep at your best, and your success story will be told as well.
