Make green bean porridge for breaking the fast

in voilk •  4 months ago

Today is the first fasting day in the month of Ramadan. This year, this year's fasting is very extreme, the heat is very dry and the scattered dust makes my body's immunity decrease drastically and I have to be willing to do my first fast this year. I have a fever accompanied by a cough and cold. So does my husband, but I have to endure my worship this year. No one knows, maybe next year I won't see each other again in the holy month of Ramadan. and because my body condition is still very weak, but I really want to make something to break the fast later, I decided to make green bean porridge which is not too sweet and is very suitable for my breaking the fast today.

Apart from being very suitable for my iftar menu today, green beans also have many benefits for the body, especially folic acid and energy. And making green bean porridge is also very easy, I don't use a lot of ingredients and you can make this porridge while doing something to distract yourself.

The ingredients I use to make this green bean porridge are only a few ingredients

    1. Green Beans, (the green beans I used were 250 grams)

    2. Instant Coconut Milk (using fresh coconut milk would be much better, but because I want to be practical at this time, I use 2 packs of instant coconut milk measuring 65 ML for each pack.)

    3. Palm sugar (you can use any sugar according to your taste, but using palm sugar will produce a much more fragrant result

    4. Pandan. (Because I have my own pandan tree, I use this pandan, but if you don't have it, you can use vanilla as a substitute or don't use these two ingredients, it doesn't matter, and I used 1 pandan leaf.)

The way I make this green bean porridge is:

    1. Soak the green beans in a slightly large bowl, remove any trash and floating green beans because this indicates that the green beans are no longer good. Soak the green beans for 1-2 hours so that when the green beans are boiled, they will become soft quickly.

    2. After waiting 1-2 hours and the green beans have started to expand, we wash the green beans again until they are clean then boil the green beans using 3-4 glasses of water or almost even to the surface of the green beans.

    3. Boil the green beans for 10 minutes and never add any ingredients to the green beans except water, because there are types of green beans that are hard and take a little longer to boil, if the green beans are still not open the seeds are like my photo below and When the water has run out, add water little by little so that the green beans don't burn, and stir the bottom too.

    4. Once the green beans are soft and peeling then add the palm sugar and stir until all the sugar has melted and add pandan leaves to it to make the porridge more fragrant

    5. Then add the coconut milk and stir well, if you feel this porridge is too thick then you can add water to it so it's not too thick like I did, I added another 1 small glass of water so it's not too thick

    6. After the coconut milk has boiled, the green bean porridge can be enjoyed.

This porridge will taste better if eaten cold or warm, put it in the refrigerator if you want to feel the sensation of this porridge like ice cream. However, because I have a fever, I will enjoy this porridge hot so that my energy can recover, so if you want you can add ginger to it.
    Healthy greetings from maytom
