Importance of compulsory checkups; A necessity to public health

In this generation, people no longer take good care of their health, unlike in the olden days when our forefathers, who had not even learned, knew the importance of taking different herbs from time to time to cleanse their body system. This was at a time when science was not yet as developed as it is today, and they relied on roots and herbs for the treatment of any form of disease. But life is being made easier for us in this 21st century and thanks to technology which has advanced medical treatment in the production of health pills from raw herbs into more easier and effective drugs which can be taken in various forms and also the development of machines which can go as far as checking our internal organs.

Regular checkups are to be prioritized by anyone and everyone who wants to live a healthy life. Medical examination of both the external and internal organs once in a while shouldn't be a bad idea, but many see it as a burden in this part of the world. Gone are the days when certain diseases were for the older ones; these days, a young man or woman can be hospitalized due to the diseases that were formerly termed or known as adult diseases. Diseases such as hypertension, hypotension, diabetes, cancer, and many more.

Regular checkups have lots of benefits to human health both physically and mentally. It helps to actively monitor any development in the body and helps to safely track health conditions, either hereditary or not. Due to the high expenses charged by medical centers and hospitals, many people who can't afford to pay the bills prefer to do self-medication rather than go to the hospital for checkups and treatment. But nevertheless, it is needed to keep up with our health daily.

Checkups make early detection of these diseases known, which would help in the prevention and treatment at an early stage before it deteriorates and leads to severe cases that might be irreversible. In my opinion, medical checkups should be compulsory, and there should be penalties for offenders who refuse to take them seriously; I think this will decrease the rate at which people neglect their health and end in regret in the long run because of the inability to afford the bills. But before this compulsory checkup rule is pushed forward, some things need to be put in place for the less privileged who would love to get themselves checked and stay healthy.

    Recommendations for compulsory checkups

    • There should be government subsidies or free health checkup programs.

    • There should be public awareness campaigns to promote voluntary participation.

    • Collaboration with the health sector, both public and private, to make healthcare accessible and affordable.

If these listed recommendations are put in place, then there won't be anyone who will violate the rules of compulsory checkups, and everyone would have a sense of belonging instead of believing that medical checkups are only for the rich while the less privileged are left to suffer with whatever diseases they might be battling with.
