Happy and productive week, my dear friends of the needles. I hope you are in good health and wellness and that you have enjoyed the weekend to the fullest, together with your loved ones.
July is here and with it the completion of my most special project. On this needlepoint Monday, I want to share with you what I am making for my mom's keepsakes. After starting to knit the mandalas I showed you here, I couldn't find a way to turn them into a reminder that was not only pretty, but also utilitarian.
That put me off for a few days. But then, looking for more ideas, I found some little bags made from some grannys that made me fall in love, because they look very nice and serve as a case to keep money, headphones, some makeup or any little thing we can think of.
Feliz y productiva semana, mis queridas amigas de las agujas. Espero que estén muy bien con salud y bienestar y que hayan disfrutado al máximo del fin de semana, junto a sus seres queridos.
LLegó el mes de julio y con este la consecución de mi proyecto más especial. En este lunes de agujas, quiero compartir con ustedes lo que estoy haciendo para los recuerditos de mi mamá. Después de empezar a tejer los mandalas que les mostré aquí, no encontré la forma de convertirlos en un recordatorio, además de bonito, utilitario.
Eso me desanimó por unos días. Pero, luego, buscando más ideas, me encontré con unos bolsitos hechos a partir de unos grannys que me dejaron enamorada, pues quedan muy bonitos y sirven como estuche para guardar dinero, audífonos, algún maquillaje o cualquier cosita que se nos ocurra.
With wool in hand, I started knitting simple but beautiful grannys. Knitting them is the most relaxing thing I've done these days and I love that feeling of tranquility and peace that each turn of the needle gives me, in between high stitches and chain stitches to shape them.
With some knitted grannys, I folded them to give them the shape of purses and see how they looked and I really liked the way they looked. The dilemma was how to close them. Definitely, the best thing to do would be to put a button on them. In that search, I found in my favorite store this button jar that were the perfect fit for my project.
Con lanas en la mano, comencé a tejer grannys sencillos, pero hermosos. Tejerlos es lo más relajante que he hecho por estos días y me encanta esa sensación de tranquilidad y paz que me da cada vuelta de aguja, entre puntos altos y cadenetas para darles forma.
Con algunos grannys tejidos, los doblaba para darles la forma de bolsitos y ver qué tal iban quedando y me gustaba mucho cómo se veían. El dilema era cómo cerrarlos. Definitivamente, lo mejor sería ponerles un botón. En esa búsqueda, encontré en mi tienda favorita este frasco de botones que eran los ideales para mi proyecto.
Then, I started folding the grannys I had already finished to choose the combinations I would make with these colorful buttons. My daughter helped me pick them out for each bag.
What do you think? They look beautiful, don't they? I already have over a dozen grannys finished and folded. I put a button on one of them to show you how they will look. Also, I've already seen what I'm going to put inside them to send them. When I buy those little details and have them all ready, I'll show you the finished work.
Entonces, empecé a doblar los grannys que ya había terminado para escoger las combinaciones que haría con estos botones de colores. Mi hija me ayudó a escogerlos para cada bolsito.
¿Qué les parece? Se ven bellos, ¿verdad? Ya tengo más de una docena de grannys terminados y doblados. Le puse botón a uno de ellos para mostrarles cómo van a quedar. También, ya tengo visto qué les voy a poner adentro para enviarlos. Cuando compre esos detallitos y tenga todos listos, les mostraré el trabajo terminado.
In the meantime, I continue to knit colorful grannys for these little souvenir bags. I want to make two dozen at least or a little more because, last year, I came up short with the ones I sent for the day of the mass, many people attended and there weren't that many to give away.

Mientras tanto, sigo tejiendo grannys de colores para estos bolsitos de recuerdo. Quiero hacer dos docenas como mínimo o un poco más porque, el año pasado, me quedé corta con los que envié para el día de la misa, asistieron muchas personas y no había tantos para regalar.
