Leila Del Porto, a remarkable woman known for her work on stage and in classrooms, has touched the lives of hundreds with her passion and dedication. Recently, Leila began experiencing symptoms of encephalitis of unknown origin, which, after months of investigation, was confirmed to be Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease. This rare and degenerative neurological condition affects the brain, causing progressive and irreversible damage.
Currently, she is in the neurological ICU receiving palliative care. Her family is facing an incredibly challenging time, both emotionally and financially. To support them, we’ve created this fundraiser to help her children and husband cover the costs associated with her condition, including:
- Specialized medical exams;
- Daily travel expenses to the hospital;
- Purchase of equipment for home care when Leila is discharged from the ICU to continue receiving palliative care at home.
