There is this girl I really like, Sarah. As for Marcus, my best friend, he is getting married next month and that gave me an idea.

What if I asked Sarah to accompany me to Marcus’ wedding? Sounds easy, right? Well let me tell you how it all went down.

Well for starters when it comes to asking women out on dates I am not a smooth talker. Most of the time I trip over my words and become really anxious. But then again what was the worst that could happen? Therefore having psyched myself up and rehearsed before the mirror many times over, finally I got brave enough and asked Sarah.

This one particular day after lessons she had left class already; my heart drummed thunderously in my chest as I walked towards her. Being careful not to sound like a complete wreck, all I managed was something about a date for Marcus’ wedding. And guess what Sarah did?

She laughed, a really big hoot. Firstly, it shamed me but I imagined that I had acted foolishly. However, she grinned and proclaimed “why not? It looks like fun!”

I was flabbergasted! I figured she would say no or give some lame excuse but she said yes! She thought I was adorable or something, believe it or not.

To cut the long story short, because of my awkward invitation to Marcus’ wedding, I got to take my crush Sarah along. Guess what? I wouldn’t change anything about it. You know life is too short to be serious about oneself always isn’t it?

So here’s to funny moments, out-of-the-way laughs and having a crush who fancies you’re cool in return. Cheers!

Marcus’ wedding day made me more excited as time edged close by. This was not only because Marcus was getting married but also because I would have spent the entire day with Sarah; it felt like a dream came true.

Everything was in place on the day. The venue was beautiful, the weather was good and everyone seemed happy. Seeing Marcus alongside his bride repeating their vows made me envious of them a little bit because I wanted to have what they had – genuine love.

But then I looked at Sarah, and all those feelings went away. Since I realized that there is something special already – Sarah. We danced together, chuckled together and it felt like being in the right place.

Thus, one of my best days ever turned out to be this wedding of Marcus’. Not for the luxury but because it was shared with someone who matters most to me. As they drove off as husband and wife, I felt grateful; grateful for love, grateful for friends and even grateful for unexpected surprises from life.

To all these moments -Marcus, his bride, Sarah and others- that make us marvel at the beauty of life. Always let us cherish them as now we are about to do so forever.
