Ever been to a tannery? Ever seen how hides are cured. Well today my nephew gave me a tour around his work.
Huge piles of fur pelts were located outside the workshop.
Moose, deer, bison and even ostrich. Now I'm sure the animal rights people will hate this post.. however many of the hides would have simply been discarded. Indeed the company had to convince one place it was actually beneficial to send them for processing rather than just discard them in the dump.
If you are going to harvest an animal I believe you should use all of it and waste nothing.
They did have a small store.. but mostly the process for wholesale.
Gigantic vats for treatment.
Small cats for specialty processing (these were beaver tails)
And the workshop was pretty cool 😀
After that it was time to drive for over 5 hours to get to the airport.
Returned the rental car... horray no more driving.
Now I'm at the hotel getting ready for an early morning flight tomorrow.
It was great seeing my mom.
Sad because she is so sick and weak.
Guilty because I should stay longer
But my son's need me too.
Wish I could be in two places at once but that just doesn't work 😞
Anyways soon I'll be back to dog walks stretches and calesthenics.
