Hello, Splinterlands players! How’s your card collection coming along? Got any new favorite cards or maybe scored a rare soulbound? If you have exciting stories to share, feel free to do so, because today I have a thrilling tale of my own. Let me take you through a battle that had my heart racing!
This match was incredibly challenging. The combination of three rulesets made crafting a strategy much trickier: GOING THE DISTANCE, ODD ONES OUT, and EARTHQUAKE. These meant only ranged monsters were allowed, only odd-mana-cost cards could be selected, and all non-flying monsters would take additional damage from the earthquake. Thankfully, the mana cap was a generous 33 points, and I had four elements to choose from: Fire, Earth, Water, and Life.
I went with Fire, hoping the anti-armor bonus from my summoner would prove useful amidst all the earthquake chaos. My lineup was daring: LAVA LAUNCHER as my tank, supported by VENARI MARKSRAT and FIRE CALLER to utilize the Martyr ability. My goal was clear: boost the power of GARGOYA DEVIL, the only flying ranged monster I brought, to secure the late-game victory. To further strengthen my offense, I also included PYREWATCH DEVIL.
But to my dismay, my opponent fielded a lineup of ranged monsters, three of which had the Flying ability! This made things incredibly difficult for my team, as my chances of winning started to feel impossibly slim. Their relentless attacks began to take down my monsters one by one, and I couldn’t shake the feeling that this match was a lost cause.
However, the battle wasn’t over yet. VENARI MARKSRAT and FIRE CALLER eventually fell, but their Martyr abilities activated, significantly powering up GARGOYA DEVIL. Slowly but surely, this lone hero started to turn the tide. The climax of the battle was unforgettable: it came down to a one-on-one between my GARGOYA DEVIL, which had lost its Flying ability, and my opponent’s WAR PEGASUSS, still soaring above the battlefield. Despite having much lower health than the enemy, GARGOYA DEVIL delivered a game-changing final blow using its Deathblow ability, reversing the situation entirely.
The result? A stunning and dramatic victory! It felt like a roller coaster—starting with doubt and despair but ending with an exhilarating triumph that made me feel like the star of the show. Curious about how it all unfolded?

This was undoubtedly my battle of the day, and it taught me just how pivotal Martyr strategies can be in challenging rulesets like this. If you have a GARGOYA DEVIL or similar cards that complement this combo, don’t hesitate to give it a shot. You might just experience an unforgettable moment of your own. Happy battling, and may your best cards always be on your side! 🔥
