First greenhoods for the Gordon season : March 29 2024

in voilk •  3 months ago

Used Good Friday as a catch up day - two weeks ago has cost some effort to get back on investing stuff. Went walking late to Blackbutt Creek Track from the other side

Fab light for the photo of the creek

Been doing recce since we moved here - greenhood rosettes - the stem on the leaf suggests nodding greenhoods

    Found one budding

Culled this photo from the video. The stills were out of focus. Small nodding greenhood - pterostylis hispidula. First time opening on this track

Leaves are bigger than the hispidula

Chiloglottis leaves on the path down to the creek - no sign of flowers yet

Maybe two types - this leaf has ragged edges

Walked along the creek to check on greenhood seen budding last walk. It is still budding but this one has opened - sharp greenhood. 2nd new orchid of the day and season

Found a few more on the other side of the track - a cluster of 29 flowers and buds - pterostylis acuminata

    The matching leaves

Front on view showing the labellum well

    Budding form

    Found some more chiloglottis leaves

Good to get some orchids under the camera lens for the first time on the track.

A good way to start Easter
