A Clean Heart in Dirty Politics: Can I Make a Difference?

If I had the opportunity to be a Politician, Will I?

I have been thinking about Politics these past few months even though I may not be the type of guy that is into politics. The reason why my thoughts have been going through that aspect or subject is because of the state of how my country is. It is filled with a lot of corrupt people, although there are possibilities that some of the leaders may not be corrupt but there are more corrupt people out there.

And recently, I have noticed something among my friends and many people; What I noticed is that majority of people complain about the government and are not ready to do anything about it. A lot of people who are good at heart chooses not to go into politics because of it is popularly said that politics is a dirty game, and if you are not ready to be dirty like they are, you cannot survive as a politician or amount to anything to good.

If all the good people are avoiding going for politics, then the position is left for which type of people. Is it the people who are corrupt at heart and thirsty for power? There is no way the country can ever get better if we ourselves don't step us into going into politics and making these changes we hope for.

To be sincere, if I see the opportunity that will direct me into politics at the moment with nothing holding me back, I will go into politics and will take the opportunity to occupy the position as the President of Nigeria or any other Powerful position that I am offered.

After occupying this position, I will make sure to make some major changes and one of the first things I will make sure is raising the minimum wage of the country.

Why will I raise the minimum wage of my country?

Isn't it obvious? Maybe if you are not a Nigerian. With the rate of devaluation of the Nigerian currency, Naira, the value of the minimum wage have gone so low that it is impossible to live on it. A friend of mine shared with me about how the minimum wage had reduced in value over the years and I realized how a lot of Nigerians have gone poorer.

In 2016, the minimum wage was 18,000 naira which was exactly $100 at that time and today, the minimum wage at this moment is 30,000 naira which is $20 now. Imagine earning $20 a month in a country where almost everything is inflated.

Let food be affordable for the poor at least...

The second thing I will work on is, how to solve the issue with the massive inflation in the prices of food? There is a lot of difference with between the price of foodstuffs just between last year and this year alone. Imagine the bag of rice last year was about $33, and this year it is about $53.

    Health is Wealth...

The third issue I will look into is the health sector. Nigeria has a big issue with its health sector and there is no news about that. Imagine living in a country where your president has travel out to another country each time he has an issue with his health. What happened to his own country? Why not make the hospitals in your country have the necessary requirements to take care of your health. The health sector is flawed, and it needs to be worked on.

    Electricity is Life...

Another issue I will look into is the aspect of electricity. Imagine living in a country that supplies electricity to up to three countries and yet, it does not have electricity for itself. Electricity is a major issue in Nigeria, and it affects other sectors as well most especially the health sector.

    And Others...

The whole system in Nigeria is flawed, and there are many other sectors that needs to be worked on seriously. For example, is the security issue, cybercrime which is at high alarming rate, and most especially the educational system.
