Most Common Rulesets And How To Deal With Them
Splinterlands is a fairly easy to play yet a difficult to master type of game. Some might even say it's just an auto-battler but thinking about what cards to use is a complex mind game. That's why in this post, we will delve into some common rulesets F2P players encounter and discuss what cards to use to ensure a winning streak. Lezgow!
What Are Rulesets?
Rulesets are conditions set in a battle. It lays down what kind of cards, abilities and statuses are affecting the battle from the start. For example, Reverse Speed. This ruleset makes slower monsters attack first. It inverts the speed rule wherein monsters with speed of 1 will definitely attack first than monsters with higher speeds.
Rulesets come in 1, 2 or 3 sets depending on your league. Bronze league battles mostly come with only 1 ruleset while Gold and above comes with 3 rulesets mostly. Understanding of the synergies of the Ruleset groups will enable you to outsmart your opponent.
Most Common Rulesets
Earthquake inflicts 2 melee damage to non-flying monsters every round. Snared flying monsters also gets damaged as Snare removes its flying ability. To deal with Earthquake, you can use flying monsters or a summoner that grants the flying ability. Risqruel Drath is a Rebellion Summoner that grants this ability.
F2P players may opt for Kelya to grant units with extra armor since its protects from initial EQ damage. Repair ability synergizes well with Kelya as armor can be restored. Scavo Hireling got this ability which is a Neutral card.
Up Close And Personal is a ruleset that only allows the use of monsters with Melee attack. Melee monsters that also has magic or ranged attacks are allowed in this ruleset. The best summoner to employ in this ruleset is the dreaded Eternal Tofu. Tofu grants Thorns to every unit which damages melee attackers by 2. It also has Snare which as mentioned earlier removes Flying ability.
F2P players can use this Thorns strategy with the use of Cursed Windeku, a flying Death monster with Thorns.
Wands Out only allows the use of monsters with Magic attack. Melee and ranged monsters can be used here only if they also have a magic attack. In this sense, Lorkus is a Rebellion Summoner that does not only grant Magic boost but Melee boost. You can surprise your opponent with melee attacks in this magic filled battle.
For F2P players, Earth splinter is the obvious play. With Obsidian as the summoner, it will boost the magic monsters for an all-out wand barrage.
Noxious Fumes infects all units with Poison at the beginning of the battle. Poison status damages units by 2 in every round. In this ruleset, Cleanse is a great ability to have in order to cure your tank of poison. The best summoner for this is Elias Max Putt. Elias or EMP for short grants +1 Melee and +1 Armor to allies. t's Summoner Tactics of Repair and Cleanse to 1 ally will help in this ruleset.
For F2P, there are no summoners to grant Cleanse or Immunity. But you can use a River Nymph from the Water element to cleanse your tank.
Counterspell is a ruleset that gives Magic Reflect to all units. Magic Reflect returns 50% of the magic damage received. In this ruleset, players are forced to use Melee and Ranged attack. That's why Blind is essential here. Blind grants a unit of + 15% of evading Melee and Ranged attacks. Cryptic is a Rebellion Summoner that grants Blind and diminishes enemy units' speed by 1. div>
F2P gameplay is a bit different. F2P players can
either go all out Melee or mostly Range. In this case, Tarsa or General Sloan are the viable summoners for the Water and Life splinters respectively.
