Yesterday the news about the death of Akira Toriyama, mangaka creator of the mythical "Dragon Ball ", was announced; personally that was a news that at this time that I write this publication is hard for me to assimilate and is that although I like to watch anime and appreciate reading manga, is the name of Toriyama, along with Gō Nagai, are the mangakas that I recognize because their creations are those that I consider most important and influential in the history of anime; that's why today I want to write an opinion or vent where I will make reference to the influence of the great or one of the great works of Akira in what was my adolescence, that of my friends and a new generation.

El día de ayer se dio conocimiento de la noticia sobre el fallecimiento de Akira Toriyama, mangaka creador de la mítica "Dragon Ball"; personalmente esa fue una noticia que a este tiempo que escribo está publicación me cuesta de asimilar y es que a pesar de que me gusta ver anime y apreciar el leer manga, es el nombre de Toriyama, junto al de Gō Nagai, son los mangakas que reconozco porque sus creaciones son las que considero más importante e influyente en la historia del anime; es por eso que hoy quiero escribir una opinión o desahogo en dónde haré referencia a la influencia de la gran o una de las grandes obras de Akira en lo que fue mi adolescencia, la de mis amigos y de una nueva generación.

A mediados de los 90' cuando fue el estreno del anime de Dragon Ball en Venezuela, fue para suplantar a nada más y nada menos que Saint Seiya, yo estaba devastado porque Seiya, Saori, Ikki y los demás, era lo que me gustaba ver y estaba convencido en que pronto continuaría la historia que se había pausado en la Saga de Poseidón, pero para el canal que transmitía anime en mi país, no podía repetir nuevamente una historia más que conocida, así que en una tarde comenzó la historia de un niño, con un peinado peculiar, pero muy acorde a los héroes de este estilo de historias, con un báculo mágico, una cola y su nube voladora; yo, de una manera nada convincente vi cada aventura de este personaje el cual narraba una historia más de humor que de peleas, con mucha diversidad de personajes, pero que sentía muy infantil y posiblemente fue eso lo que hizo que la conexión con esta historia se hiciera lenta.
That brief summary about my first encounter with the anime of Dragon Ball, is to show that despite not liking completely its style and not having expectations of anything, I decided to continue watching the anime because to be honest there was nothing else to see and without knowing it was the best decision I could have because I began to discover a story with great potential. Surely the phrase "never judge a book by its cover" for me had not had such importance in reference to a series or TV show and this anime had a radical change which made me connect immediately with the introduction of new characters and new adventures which made "Son-Goku " had more relevance than it already had, there was no doubt that the plan devised by Toriyama was to disperse the attention on a large number of characters in order to gradually develop its protagonist, giving him the necessary time to make him completely unique.
The World Martial Arts Tournament Saga, the first confrontation against Reddo Ribon Gun, the Second Tournament, the great confrontation against Píkoro Daimakú (My favorite saga in all of DB), the confrontation with Piccolo, all those adventures and battles captured my attention and made me become a fan not only of Goku, but of several of his friends; special moments where battles, laughter and even very traumatic moments and sadness made me see how wrong I was about this anime, but without having read a single episode of the manga, I wonder what I was going to know what would happen next? Which up to this moment I think it's a good thing it happened that way, because I was able to discover episode by episode how special this story is, with a gripping narrative thanks to the evolution of its main character and the introduction of excellent characters.

Ese breve resumen sobre mi primer encuentro con el anime de Dragon Ball, es para demostrar que a pesar de no gustarme por completo su estilo y no tener expectativas de nada, decidí seguir viendo el anime porque para ser sincero no había más nada que ver y sin saberlo fue la mejor decisión que pude tener porque empecé a descubrir una historia con un gran potencial. Seguramente la frase de "nunca juzgues a un libro por su portada" para mí no había tenido tal importancia en referencia a una serie o show de TV y es que este anime tuve un cambio radical lo cual me hizo conectar de manera inmediata con la introducción de nuevos personajes y nuevas aventuras lo cual hizo que "Son-Goku" tuviera más relevancia de la que ya tenía, no había duda que el plan ideado por Toriyama era el dispersar la atención en un gran número de personajes para así ir desarrollando poco a poco a su protagonista, darle el tiempo necesario para hacerlo completamente único.
La Saga del Torneo Mundial de las Artes Marciales, el primer enfrentamiento contra La Patrulla Roja (Reddo Ribon Gun), el Segundo Torneo, el gran enfrentamiento contra Píkoro Daimakú (Mi saga favorita en todo DB), el enfrentamiento con Piccolo, todas esas aventuras y batallas captaron mi atención y me hizo convertirme en un fan no solo de Goku, sino de varios de sus amigos; momentos especiales en dónde batallas, risas y hasta momentos muy traumáticos y tristeza me hicieron ver qué tan equivocado estaba sobre este anime, pero sin haber leído un solo episodio del manga, pregunto ¿Qué iba a saber qué sucedería después? Lo cual hasta este momento pienso que menos mal que ocurrió así, porque así pude descubrir episodio por episodio lo especial de esta historia con una narrativa atrapante gracias a la evolución de su protagonista y la introducción de excelentes personajes.

Así transcurrió meses y años, pero lo mejor fue que después de estar finalizando mi adolescencia pude encontrar más personas que les gustaba esa historia, no había esa necesidad de ser niño o estar en silencio porque te atraía ver comiquitas japonesas, nada que ver, amigos que como yo esperamos que se hiciera la cinco de la tarde para perder interés en otras obligaciones y esperar un episodio más en la vida de Goku y sus amigos protegiendo al mundo y es que aquí quiero exponer algo que puede ser extraño al leer y es que posiblemente la conexión con estos personajes es que así como cada quien sumaba años y dejaba etapas atrás etapas en la vida, Goku, también lo hizo, una etapa larga de niño, una breve de adolescente y después tuvo que enfrentar una como padre, el cual tuvo que morir en varias oportunidades para dar lecciones a su hijo y amigos, regresar para salvarlos y como siempre seguir preparándose para eventos venideros, los cuales pueden ser peligrosos o no y aquí está la primera lección de vida que se puede obtener de este anime, lo cual es estar preparado, enfocado, para cualquier cosa que ofrezca la vida y enfrentarlo sea solo o con la ayuda de las personas más cercanas.
