Just like Crontab, our team might not always be in the spotlight, but we're the ones working tirelessly behind the scenes, leveraging every CPU cycle to make the magic happen ✨. Hive.io: The Journey 💖
One day, while browsing through numerous hackathons happening all over India, we stumbled upon a particularly large one, it was Vihaan. Looking amongst the various tracks Vihaan had to offer, we discovered the Hive Track, which began our Journey with Hive. We discovered a new blockchain, a platform that actually worked towards unlocking the full Web3 potential, a blockchain that didn't just offer cryptos and NFTs, but also a way to socialise, a way to connect with the community, actual deployment facilities for innovative dApps. And hence, we decided that we are surely using Hive in our project. This was the first phase of our Journey With Hive✨About pollen 🐝🪲
While thinking about our idea for the project, we realised that all of us, we are interested and want to do our part for the environment. The only thing missing, the thing that is holding us back, is the lack of motivation, the lack of a sense of community, and a lack of incentive for doing sustainable contributions.
And hence, we decided that we're gonna do something about it. We started building pollen - a decentralised web app that's going to change how society thinks about sustainability.
Ideation- the wireframing for pollen
Pollen is a platform for people with a sustainable mindset to come together, post about their sustainable actions, interact with the community about it, and earn rewards in the process!
Essentially, every Hive user is a member of "the pollen movement". They just have to login to the platform via their Hive Username, and hence become a part of the community. The user can post ecency-like blogs on our website, with text, images and videos about any small or big contribution they do towards sustainability. Another thing they can do, is interact with other blogs on the platform and give them an upvote if they like it!
Based on the number of upvotes, the user gets some Bee Tokens, which is our own tokenized coin (not a cryptocurrency).
The bee token balance of a user can be seen at any point of time on the website. Once the user accumulates enough Bee tokens, they can be redeemed for exclusive Hive Pollen goodies, like backpacks, t-shirts, tote bags, bottles and stickers, which would be outsourced/sponsored by brands for CSR and promotions!
The Impact
Pollen will definitely have a huge impact on our society, since it will convert people's knowledge of sustainability into action, into motivation, into community, into social media, into dopamine! And this positive dopamine for sustainable lifestyle in people will definitely fuel a revolution for sustainability and hence make our planet a safer, cleaner and greener place to live in.Winning Potential of pollen
We believe that pollen has the potential to add great value to the Hive ecosystem, also improving Hive's image as a modern, yet green platform. It would also fuel the revolution for sustainable action, hence bringing about a major change to the society, for the good of all.
